"Every accurate test result is not just a number, but a crucial basis for doctors to make sound clinical decisions, contributing to improved treatment effectiveness and ensuring patient safety."
"Being accredited with ISO 15189:2022 demonstrates our capabilities and our ability to meet the requirements of a quality management system in our laboratory operations, providing test results according to our committed values: safety, reliability, and effectiveness," Dr. Hung stated at the event where the hospital received ISO 15189:2022 certification - an international standard specifically for medical laboratories.

According to Dr. Le Manh Duc, Deputy Director of the Post Office Hospital and Director of the Stem Cell and Genetics Center, Vietnam currently has approximately 3,000 testing laboratories, but many units have not yet been publicly announced, ranked, or evaluated for quality according to unified criteria.
Recent statistics show that only 18 Departments of Health have evaluated all laboratories in their areas, and nationwide, only about 600 laboratories have been ranked from level 1 to level 5 in terms of quality.
"The test results, which are accredited according to ISO 15189:2022 standards, have high accuracy because the entire process, from machinery and equipment to technical procedures, personnel, chemicals, and consumables, is strictly controlled according to international standards," said Mr. Duc.
According to experts, achieving ISO 15189:2022 certification also lays an important foundation for the interoperability of test results between healthcare facilities. Once test parameters are recognized according to international standards, the hospital's test results will be accepted by higher-level and lower-level facilities, contributing to reduced repetitive testing and saving time and costs.
Currently, the Post Office Hospital has been accredited for testing standards in the fields of biochemistry, hematology, and genetic testing, with a total of 21 tests.
These include 3 genetic tests for the Stem Cell and Genetics Center, and 18 tests conducted at Laboratory Department 1, performed on 4 different systems. These are routine tests with high frequency of use, playing a crucial role in diagnosis and treatment monitoring.
According to MSc. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Head of the Laboratory Department of the hospital, the department receives an average of about 1,000 patient samples per day.
With ISO 15189:2022 certification, the accuracy of test results is guaranteed. The department will continue to improve, strictly control testing processes, and gradually expand the range and criteria of accredited tests, better meeting the needs of diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.
