On the morning of August 22, Hanoi City Police officially informed about the incident in which two young men recklessly “crossed the checkpoint” and directly crashed into a Mobile Police officer while the functional force was on duty to protect the joint training session to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
At around 8:10 p.m. on August 21, Nguyen Ba Hoai Nam (18 years old, residing in Phuc Thinh commune, Hanoi) drove a motorbike carrying Nguyen Van Quan (18 years old, residing in Tien Thang commune, Hanoi) at high speed on Nghi Tam street, heading towards Au Co.
At this time, Hanoi City Police are deploying forces to block the road, ensuring safety for the parade, marching troops and the people. Discovering two young men showing signs of danger, the Working Group at the guard post in front of house number 336A Nghi Tam signaled for the vehicle to stop.
However, instead of complying, Nam drove straight into Captain Le Dinh Cong, an officer of the Mobile Police Department. The collision was so strong that Captain Cong and the two subjects fell onto the road. According to the initial results, Captain Cong suffered a traumatic brain injury, a broken nose and jaw, and a broken left arm. He is out of danger and is being monitored by doctors and receiving intensive care from his family. The victim is now conscious and able to talk.
The City Police Director has directed to urgently investigate and strictly handle the subjects according to the law, and promptly implement the regime and policies for Captain Le Dinh Cong.
