Coffee price today August 23, 2025: Continue to increase slightly

Since the end of July, domestic coffee prices have continued to increase slightly due to scarce domestic supply while export demand has increased. In August, the increase was more obvious, and by August 23, prices fluctuated between 122,700 - 123,400 VND/kg.

In just over a month, domestic coffee prices have recovered nearly 30% from the one-year low recorded in July. This strong recovery has created positive expectations for farmers and businesses in the industry.

According to experts, from now until the end of the year, coffee prices are likely to stabilize or increase slightly due to improved global demand and tight supply. Businesses are advised not to sell massively to take advantage of good prices.

In the long term, expanding coffee acreage is difficult as farmers have switched to high-value fruit crops. The industry needs to focus on improving productivity, investing in deep processing and developing high-value products to maintain its competitive advantage.

World coffee prices today

On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed yesterday at $4,870/ton, up 2.35% ($112/ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 futures contract increased 2.59% ($117/ton), reaching $4,637/ton.

Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery increased by 3.66% (13.75 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 389 US cents/pound. The December 2025 futures contract increased by 3.41% (12.45 US cents/pound), reaching 377.45 US cents/pound.

Coffee prices have been volatile in the world market recently. July saw a downward trend due to the rapid harvest and forecast of abundant supply. However, coffee prices rebounded immediately after US President Donald Trump announced tariffs on Brazilian coffee.

Global coffee prices have continued to rise for the second consecutive week. Arabica hit a three-month high, while Robusta hit a nearly three-month high. Concerns about adverse weather in Brazil also prompted investors to increase purchases of futures contracts, contributing to the price increase.

According to experts, the US tax policy is an important factor affecting prices. If the US tightens imports from Brazil, the supply pressure will shift to countries like Vietnam, giving domestic coffee prices a chance to increase.

The U.S. coffee industry is still watching the tariff negotiations. Cecafe President Marcio Ferreira said U.S. companies currently have enough inventory to last 30-60 days, giving them room to wait before making a decision. In addition, adverse weather in Brazil during the flowering stage has reinforced the upward trend in global coffee prices.
