A little peace with photography

Author Luong Cao Dung (born in 1983, in Hai Phong City) is currently a teacher training and evaluating welders and welding processes for construction and shipbuilding companies nationwide; member of the Hai Phong Press Photo Club, the Vietnam Journalists Association Press Photo Club, Hai Phong branch.

Luong Cao Dung's love for photography began in 2010. Due to the nature of his work, he often traveled to factories in many provinces and cities; loving natural scenery, he took the opportunity to record many beautiful moments of the places he visited and shared them with everyone through the website Panoramio (currently Google Earth and Google Maps). His love for photography has been nurtured and grown since then.

In recent years, he has often worked at the offshore oil rig in Vung Tau (now Ho Chi Minh City). Passionate about the job and the special mission in this place of storms, he gradually became attached to and considered the rig as his home, the ocean as his homeland. This is also the subject that brings him many creative emotions. So after each shift change flight, Luong Cao Dung's luggage when returning to the mainland has many more beautiful photos of the offshore rig and the activities there.

Each photo is associated with its own emotions, but what they have in common is that it brings him joy and satisfaction when his passion is ignited. For example, the work “Sea Spiderman” records the hard work of technicians who are checking the corrosion chain periodically every year, they work in a harsh and dangerous environment; from a high angle, he has to wear a safety belt, wear a life jacket and hang out to take pictures..., in return he captures many satisfying moments. He also has many beautiful angles of drilling rigs, oil tankers, flights carrying people out to change shifts... vividly depicting the working process of workers in the middle of the ocean.

For him, after completing his somewhat dry and tiring main job, photography is like a cool breeze, dispelling fatigue, bringing him peace and comfort, helping him to capture memories and moments with different emotions. Luong Cao Dung shared: “Photography is the driving force that urges me to explore and create more. Through that, I can communicate widely, learn more experiences from seniors and improve my mental health after each time I go to compose.”

Seeing photography as a form of entertainment and relaxation, he mainly posts and shares the photos he takes on social networks. Some of his works have been selected for exhibitions in competitions in Hai Phong and the Red River Delta, such as: “Going Out to Sea”, “The Flame of Sea Sovereignty”, “The Bird of Prey Trainer”, “Naming”, “Hoang Van Thu Bridge - Hai Phong”, “Changing Shifts”…

During his creative process, he has owned a rich collection of photographic works taken in many different regions and in the city of Hoa Phuong Do, on offshore drilling rigs..., he cherishes the plan to make trips to the Southwest region in the near future to have more new works about this charming river region.
