Car broke down on the way, candidate still made it to the exam thanks to 'unique' handling

A candidate in Ho Chi Minh City had his car break down on the road. Realizing that the exam time was approaching, he quickly "pulled over" to the nearest exam location and was given flexible conditions to take the exam on the morning of June 27.

At noon on June 27, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed that this morning, candidate LQ (student of Han Thuyen High School, living in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) had his car broken down on the way to the exam location - Phu Nhuan High School (Phu Nhuan District).

Realizing that the exam time was approaching, while the exam location was too far away - more than 10km away, this candidate had an unexpected solution. Specifically, he went to Vinh Loc High School (Binh Tan District) to ask to take the exam.

This "unique" situation was reported by Vinh Loc High School exam site to the High School Graduation Exam Steering Committee in Ho Chi Minh City for comments.

Immediately after checking the candidate's information, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training agreed to create conditions for this candidate to take the exam at Vinh Loc exam site. He was arranged a backup exam room, and a record was made and sent to the Marking Council for processing.

In the morning exam session of June 27, in the elective subject of the first shift in Ho Chi Minh City, there were 97,050 candidates taking the exam, 384 candidates were absent, the rate of candidates taking the exam was 99.6%. In the elective subject of the second shift, there were 95,492 candidates taking the exam, 152 candidates were absent, the rate of candidates taking the exam was 99.84%.

Also this morning, in Ho Chi Minh City, there was a candidate who violated exam regulations - bringing a cell phone into the exam room.

This year, nearly 100,000 candidates registered for the high school graduation exam in Ho Chi Minh City. The city has arranged 171 exam sites with a total of 4,242 exam rooms. Of these, 168 exam sites with 4,180 exam rooms are for candidates following the 2018 general education program and 3 exam sites with 62 exam rooms are for candidates following the 2006 general education program.
