The football tragedy of Joao Pedro

Joao Pedro is experiencing the most bitter days of his career after being left out of the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup and even facing the risk of leaving Chelsea.

The most heartbreaking moment appeared in a video that went viral on social media. Pedro's family and friends sat waiting throughout the squad announcement, hoping that coach Carlo Ancelotti would call his name. But in the end, all that remained was silence and disappointment for the 24-year-old striker.

The video, showing Pedro's family members staring in stunned silence at the screen, has been described by many fans as "one of the saddest moments in Brazilian football in recent times."

The regret is even greater because Pedro was having the best season of his career. After joining Chelsea for £60 million from Brighton, the Brazilian striker scored 20 goals in all competitions, including 15 in the Premier League.

However, that wasn't enough to convince coach Ancelotti. The Italian strategist admitted that Pedro deserved consideration, but decided to choose other names such as Neymar, Vinicius, Raphinha, or Endrick.

The tragedy didn't end there. According to AS , Chelsea are ready to sell Pedro this summer to make way for transfer plans under Xabi Alonso. Barcelona are reportedly in contact to bring the Brazilian striker in as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Despite the shock, Pedro maintained a professional attitude. On Instagram , he wrote: "It's a shame that the World Cup dream couldn't come true, but football always has its joys and disappointments."
