On the evening of August 7th in Hanoi, the awards ceremony for the first Green, Clean, and Beautiful Healthcare Facility Competition took place. Launched in August 2024, the competition was organized by the Department of Disease Prevention ( Ministry of Health ) and the Health & Life Newspaper.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that a "green" healthcare facility is not just about trees and landscaping, but also about sustainable development thinking, energy saving practices, and minimizing plastic waste, conveying the message "prevention is better than cure" to the entire community.
A "clean" healthcare facility is not just a clean physical space, but also a safe environment that minimizes the risk of infection, protecting the health of the public and the doctors and healthcare workers themselves.

A "beautiful" healthcare facility is not just about aesthetics, but about creating a healing space, a place where patients feel their physical pain soothed by inner peace. This represents holistic care, reflecting the healthcare industry's commitment to improving the quality of medical care and enhancing patient satisfaction.
The Minister mentioned the model of Phu Tho Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, where tens of thousands of square meters of land have been dedicated to greenery and gardens, transforming the hospital into a "healing" park. Or at Quang Ninh Provincial General Hospital, where every small corner is carefully maintained, creating a friendly and safe environment for medical examination and treatment.
Nevertheless, Minister Lan also acknowledged the difficulties and challenges such as limited resources, cramped urban spaces, and especially the immense workload weighing on the medical staff. Therefore, today's awards ceremony is not the end point, but the beginning of a new phase with greater determination, stronger and more comprehensive action.
"A positive work environment not only helps patients recover quickly but also provides invaluable energy and mental therapy for the medical staff themselves. It helps reduce stress, regenerate energy, and makes doctors and nurses love their profession even more, become more committed, and dedicated to their noble mission."
"Caring for caregivers – that is also a humanitarian goal that this movement brings about," the Minister emphasized.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates and emblems to 20 healthcare facilities. The award structure was divided into five levels of healthcare facilities: Central-level healthcare facilities, provincial-level healthcare facilities, district-level (now regional) healthcare facilities, commune-level healthcare facilities, and private healthcare facilities. Each level received awards including: 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize, and 1 Consolation Prize.
Over 2,000 healthcare facilities across 34 provinces and cities have registered to participate. Nearly 350,000 patients, their families, and citizens participated in the survey and provided feedback via QR code.
For central-level medical facilities, the first prize went to the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City, the second prize to Military Hospital 175 (Ho Chi Minh City), the third prize to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi), and the consolation prize to Hue Central Hospital.
