On September 8-9, Saigon Newport Corporation announced that the rescue team of Brigade 20 – Saigon Newport Corporation had rescued one civilian and two ferry employees from Cat Lai ferry terminal who fell into the river during a thunderstorm, ensuring their absolute safety.
Earlier, at around 12:30 PM on September 7th, Mr. HQH (born in 1982, residing in Cat Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) was waiting for the ferry to Dai Phuoc Commune ( Dong Nai Province) when he was suddenly caught in heavy rain and strong winds and fell into the river. Immediately, two ferry employees from Cat Lai jumped in to rescue him. However, due to the strong current and harsh weather conditions, all three were swept downstream, their lives in danger.
Upon detecting the incident from the B1 pier's observation post, the Pier Operations Team - Staff Department, 20th Army Corps, quickly deployed rescue forces. After more than 20 minutes of effort in stormy weather and limited visibility, at 12:55 PM, the forces safely rescued all three people and provided on-site first aid.
The two Cat Lai ferry employees are in stable condition and have returned to work as usual. Mr. HQH was transferred to Le Van Thinh Hospital for treatment. His health is now gradually recovering.

Sharing his emotions after the incident, Mr. H. said: “ If it weren't for the officers of the 20th Brigade and the staff of the Cat Lai ferry, I don't know where I would have drifted to. Thank you for saving my life.”

Along with the 24/7 production duties at Tan Cang Cat Lai port, the 20th Brigade's on-duty force always maintains a strict readiness regime, coordinating closely with relevant units to ensure security and safety for people, vehicles, and production activities in all weather conditions, especially thunderstorms and strong winds.
