Bringing goods to mountainous areas.

The market bringing goods to the mountainous area of Tay Giang commune took place over the past two days. With 15 stalls mainly selling confectionery, soft drinks, melon seeds, jams, fish sauce, cooking oil, MSG, laundry detergent, household goods, etc., the market has become a bustling shopping destination for many people in Tay Giang commune and neighboring communes and areas in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Minh, owner of Duy Trinh fish sauce production facility, shared that compared to fairs in the lowlands, the number of customers at the "Bringing Goods to the Mountainous Area" fair in Tay Giang commune was very high. On the first day alone, her stall sold nearly 5 million VND worth of goods, and all the goods she brought were sold out, requiring her to call the facility to send more. "Duy Trinh fish sauce has received OCOP certification, ensuring quality, so people trust it. We sell at reasonable prices and also give away dried anchovies as gifts to support the local people, so many people buy from us," Ms. Thu Minh said.

Taking place from January 26th to February 7th in five mountainous communes of Ben Hien, Tay Giang, Hung Son, Nam Giang, and Kham Duc, these markets bringing goods to the mountainous areas not only ensure a balance between supply and demand for essential goods, promptly meeting the consumption needs of people during the Lunar New Year, but also help provide quality products with clear origins and guaranteed food safety. This contributes to preventing speculation, hoarding, and unfair competition that could destabilize the market during the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, Director of Union Da Nang Company, participating in the mountain market fair, besides business efficiency, aims primarily to serve the people, thereby working with the city's industry and trade sector to promptly supply essential products to people in mountainous areas and stabilize the market during the Lunar New Year. At this year's fair, Union Company brought a wide variety of food and household goods; notably, all were sold at promotional prices with accompanying gifts. As a result, most of the goods were sold out after only two days. "The items the company sold at the fair were on a buy-one-get-one-free basis or with free gifts, such as buying coffee and getting a free cup or buying a pack of laundry detergent and getting a free glass cleaner... so the people really liked it," Mr. Anh said.

Ensuring year-end supply of goods.

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade, as of now, the total value of goods stockpiled to serve the shopping needs for the Lunar New Year and Tet holiday in 2026 in the city has reached nearly 3,500 billion VND, mainly from 8 shopping malls, 74 supermarkets, more than 500 convenience stores, 240 markets of various types, and other businesses and suppliers. In addition, many supermarkets and businesses have implemented promotional programs and giveaways for essential goods, food, Tet confectionery, household items, clothing, etc., to stimulate consumer demand.

From December 2025, most businesses and supermarkets in the city have stockpiled goods and announced promotional programs and gifts for customers. Mr. Le Van Liem, Director of Co.op Mart Tam Ky Supermarket, predicts that this year's purchasing power will increase by 10-15% compared to last year. In preparation for the Lunar New Year, Co.op Mart Tam Ky supermarket has stocked about 50% of its usual daily inventory, mostly food items for the holiday such as beer, soft drinks, confectionery, and jams.

According to Ms. Do Thi Quynh Tram, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, in order to maintain market stability during Tet (Lunar New Year), in addition to implementing stabilization activities from the state budget, the department has also actively encouraged supermarkets, shopping malls, and distribution units to proactively organize many price stabilization points and stalls (for livestock and poultry meat) to meet people's shopping needs and ensure social welfare. “Through monitoring, surveying, and compiling data from various market sources, it can be seen that purchasing power in the city is currently increasing earlier than last year by about 15-20%, mainly focusing on goods for Tet, Tet gifts, and essential consumer goods. In particular, the increased demand is clearly evident in modern distribution channels such as supermarkets, shopping malls, retail chains, especially e-commerce and online sales channels,” Ms. Tram informed.

According to Ms. Tram, most essential goods such as food, consumer goods, and fuel are guaranteed in supply, and prices remain at reasonable levels, consistent with the general market. Therefore, although it is predicted that some goods serving Tet needs may increase slightly closer to Tet (estimated increase of 20-30%), this will not last long and will quickly stabilize after Tet. Overall, commodity prices remain stable without major fluctuations.

Nevertheless, to stabilize the market before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, the Department of Industry and Trade has established teams to monitor the prices of essential goods and supervise price stabilization sales. The Department also directed the City Market Management Sub-department to coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, and units to strengthen market inspection and control; to monitor, detect, and promptly prevent acts of speculation, hoarding, unfair competition, and market instability; and to resolutely combat the trading of prohibited goods, smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, substandard goods, goods that do not meet food safety and hygiene standards, and other acts of commercial fraud.
