BMW M2 CS 2026 - outstanding performance, record "weight loss"
After much speculation, BMW has officially announced detailed information about the 2026 M2 CS - the highest performance version of the compact sports coupe.

The 2026 BMW M2 CS features significant improvements in engine, chassis, weight and equipment, but the car remains loyal to a pure rear-wheel drive configuration, which is gradually becoming rare in the high-performance car segment. The “heart” of the 2026 M2 CS is a 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 523 horsepower and 649 Nm of maximum torque. Compared to the standard M2, this figure increases by 50 horsepower and 48 Nm, making the M2 CS the most powerful M2 ever produced.
The engine comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, there is no manual transmission option, this is a detail that can cause regret for pure enthusiasts. However, unlike the older CS models such as M3, M4 or M5 which use four-wheel drive, M2 CS is still loyal to rear-wheel drive, bringing the typical driving experience of the M series. One of the notable highlights of the 2026 BMW M2 CS is its lighter weight compared to the standard version. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber materials, including the impressive "ducktail" rear trunk lid, carbon fiber sports seats and forged wheels, this coupe is about 44 kg lighter than the standard M2. Along with the power increase and weight reduction, BMW M has also completely revised the operating system. The car has stiffer springs, fine-tuned adaptive dampers, along with upgrades to the electronic limited-slip differential, ABS braking system and vehicle stability control.
These improvements ensure the car retains optimal stability and grip at the high limit. BMW says the M2 CS can accelerate from 0–60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 186 mph, a figure that is unrivalled in the rear-wheel-drive compact sports coupe segment. In the US, the starting price of the 2026 BMW M2 CS is $99,775 (about 2.59 billion VND), about $30,000 (~779 million VND) higher than the standard 2025 M2 at $69,375 (~1.8 billion VND). BMW confirmed that the M2 CS will be assembled at the San Luis Potosí plant (Mexico) from August 2025.
