On the afternoon of October 12th, the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order (C06) of the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference about the "Data for Life 2024" competition. Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Director of C06, emphasized that, unlike previous years, the 2024 competition has officially expanded its scope to the international level.
"This is the first time we have allowed teams to include international members, not just limited to Vietnamese citizens and overseas Vietnamese," the Director of Department C06 said.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Vinh, Director of the National Population Data Center.
According to Department C06, out of hundreds of submitted applications, authorities selected 156 high-quality entries, expected to offer unique and innovative technological solutions for practical application.
In particular, many of the ideas submitted to the competition demonstrated a very high level of practical application, ranging from ideas on building a digital government and digital society to topics related to transportation, healthcare, education , and social welfare.
For example, the idea of applying AI technology to detect and identify vehicles and license plates helps the police handle traffic violations. In this year's competition, many ideas on applying AI to digital transformation and information security were also promoted.
For example, there was the idea "3D facial data by age used to find missing persons and prevent crime," or the competition entry titled "Applying AI to extract data from cameras and videos ."
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Vinh, Director of the National Population Data Center (under C06), affirmed that the aforementioned competition is a playground for all citizens and overseas Vietnamese to demonstrate creativity and develop various technologies for application in life.
In addition, the ideas submitted this year share a common theme: they all focus on the application of artificial intelligence and data. The projects are highly practical and closely adhere to the content and tasks outlined in the Government's Project 06.
At the same time, the topics submitted to the judging panel also closely adhered to the national population data system.
According to statistics from Department C06, more than 370 applications were submitted for Season 2. After evaluation, the organizing committee selected 46 applications for the presentation round. Of these, 14 entries were from international teams such as Australia, Singapore, South Korea, and Indonesia.
