Officers and soldiers of Bat Mot Border Guard Station participate in cleaning up the environment in their area of operation.
In mid-May 2026, the Da Loc Border Guard Station, in coordination with the women's associations of Hung Thanh and Yen Loc villages in Van Loc commune, organized a comprehensive environmental cleanup campaign. From early morning, officers, soldiers, and women's association members were present along village roads and alleys. Some cleared bushes, others collected garbage, plastic bags, and plastic bottles. Sections of roads overgrown with weeds were cleaned up. Spontaneous garbage collection points were dealt with, restoring the landscape of the residential area.
Not stopping at just cleaning up on the first day of the campaign, officers and soldiers of the Da Loc Border Guard Post also coordinated with local people to educate and guide them on sorting and disposing of household waste in designated areas. The awareness campaign was integrated into village activities and meetings at households, especially in areas near the beach, where plastic waste is often generated. Officers and soldiers of the Da Loc Border Guard Post also educated people about the harmful effects of waste on the environment, water sources, human health, and production and fishing activities. As a result, many households proactively collected waste in designated areas and stopped dumping it into canals and ditches.
Along the western border of the province, the Youth Union of Bat Mot Border Guard Station, in coordination with the women's association and youth union of Bat Mot commune, organized a launching ceremony to respond to the movement "All citizens join hands to protect the environment, for a green, clean, and beautiful Vietnam" in Vin village. Following the launching ceremony, officers, union members, and local people planted more than 30 ornamental trees in the village's cultural center. Along with planting trees, the forces carried out general cleaning, cleared drainage ditches, and collected waste around the residential area. The unit also educated the people on ensuring food safety and hygiene in eating and living; and proactively preventing the spread of diseases. In mountainous areas, many households still raise livestock near their homes, and waste disposal practices are not standardized. Therefore, border guard officers chose an easy-to-understand approach to communication, tailored to the specific conditions of each family...
Lieutenant Colonel Le Duy Luong, Political Officer of Bat Mot Border Guard Station, said: "Officers and soldiers in the unit have coordinated with women's associations, youth unions, and influential people to propagate and explain to the people that protecting the environment not only makes the villages cleaner and more beautiful, but also directly protects health and proactively prevents and controls diseases. With this change in awareness, many households have proactively built livestock pens away from their homes, dug pits for waste disposal, and planted trees around their houses, contributing to changing the appearance of the residential area. When people see the benefits for their families, the movement will become well-established."
In Yen Khuong commune, as part of the "Summer Volunteer Program 2026," "Green Sunday," and the "Bright Village in the Border Region" model, the Youth Union of the Yen Khuong Border Guard Post, in coordination with the Women's Union of the commune and the people of Tu Chieng village, organized cleaning, clearing bushes, and collecting waste in the village's cultural center grounds. This practical and community-oriented activity also involved young people from the Yen Khuong Border Guard Post helping farmers harvest rice, including areas under the "Pilot Sticky Rice Cultivation" model. For people in border regions, the harvest depends heavily on weather and manpower. The timely support from the soldiers helps farmers reduce hardship and ensures a timely harvest when the rice ripens. From cleaning to assisting with production, each task demonstrates the sense of responsibility of the young border guards in the "Accompanying Women in the Border Region" program.
Not only in Da Loc, Bat Mot, or Yen Khuong, but from the beginning of 2026 until now, Thanh Hoa Border Guard units have coordinated with political and social organizations in their areas of operation to organize thousands of environmental sanitation activities, attracting a large number of cadres, union members, youth, and people to participate. These activities focused on collecting waste, cleaning roads, beaches, and residential areas; clearing bushes; planting trees; clearing waterways; and raising awareness about reducing the use of plastic bags and not littering.
The approach may vary in each area, but the common point is to stay close to the people and the grassroots, and choose specific tasks to implement. When the military takes the lead, the movement will spread widely among all segments of the population. Through this, environmental protection awareness gradually becomes a regular part of community life in border areas, coastal regions, and islands.
