The revised training program standards on semiconductor microchips at undergraduate and master's levels were just announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on July 22.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training officially removed the previously announced entrance standard condition for the training program for bachelor and engineer levels, which was that candidates must score at least 8 points in math and the total score of three subjects in the admission group must reach at least 24/30 points.
High school graduates applying for admission to the semiconductor microchip industry only need to have math in their admission group, and at least one natural science subject suitable for the semiconductor microchip program.
The Ministry of Education and Training also added a requirement that candidates must be in the group of 25% of candidates with the highest combined scores in the admission exam nationwide and in the group of 20% of candidates with the highest math scores nationwide (data published by the ministry annually).
Candidates with a university degree must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8/4 or higher (or equivalent) for their graduate program.
For candidates who are students studying from other training programs transferring to the microchip and semiconductor training program, they must have a cumulative average score of 2.5/4 and some other conditions.
After the Ministry of Education and Training announced the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, Vietnam-Japan University and the University of Natural Sciences - Hanoi National University also announced the floor score and removed the requirement that candidates must achieve a minimum of 8 points in math, 24/30 points in combination, to be considered for admission to majors related to semiconductors.
