Ministry of Education and Training proposes tuition exemption and support for students affected by storm No. 3

Recently, many localities in the country, especially the northern provinces, have suffered heavy losses in property and lives caused by storm No. 3, including students and their families. The Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciates the spirit of mutual love and support, the proactiveness in mobilizing resources, joining hands with the whole country to support compatriots, and support localities to overcome the consequences of storms and floods of higher education institutions and teacher training colleges.

To continue supporting students affected by storms and floods to stabilize their studies soon, the Ministryof Education and Training recommends that higher education institutions and teacher training colleges pay attention to and prioritize the allocation of resources to exempt and reduce tuition fees and provide financial support policies appropriate to each student's circumstances. Training institutions instruct students to contact local authorities to request confirmation of cases where their families have sudden financial difficulties to apply for credit loans and support for their studies.

On September 17, the Ministry of Education and Training also informed about the damage to facilities and teaching equipment of 18 provinces and cities in the Northern region, including: Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Dien Bien, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Son La, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc and Yen Bai, as of September 16, 2024. Specifically, according to the reports of 18/26 provinces and cities directly under the Central Government sent to the Ministry of Education and Training, the total damage to facilities and teaching equipment is estimated at 1,260 billion VND; 41,564 sets of textbooks were damaged.
