Following the opening night of DIFF 2026 on May 30th, the image of hundreds of volunteers, officials, locals, and tourists staying behind to collect trash left a positive impression.
Just about half an hour after the dazzling fireworks display over the Han River ended, the areas where crowds had gathered, such as Tran Hung Dao Street, the Han River Bridge, and many riverside spots, were basically clean.
Earlier, tens of thousands of locals and tourists flocked to both banks of the Han River to enjoy the match between the Da Nang (Vietnam) and China teams.
Many people brought water, snacks, and convenient raincoats while waiting for the event, which lasted for many hours. However, when the festival ended, the amount of waste left behind was noticeably reduced.
As of around 10 PM on May 30th, many sections of sidewalks, parks, and the embankment along the Han River were clean of trash.
Having followed the international fireworks festival for many years, Ms. Le Ha My (a resident of Da Nang) said she was very happy to see that people's awareness is increasingly improving.
“In previous years, after the fireworks ended, there were often many discarded raincoats used as seat cushions. Plastic bottles, soda cans, and leftover food were also scattered around. In recent years, the amount of trash has gradually decreased. Especially on this opening night, the amount of trash has decreased significantly,” Ms. My shared.

Besides volunteer teams and sanitation workers, many police officers and soldiers also participated in garbage collection.
According to reports, many people proactively collected their trash after watching the fireworks. Immediately afterward, numerous volunteers quickly fanned out to crowded areas to help clean up.
In addition to volunteer teams and environmental workers, many police officers and soldiers also participated in collecting garbage, assisting with traffic management, and maintaining security and order after the event.
With the positive signals from the opening night of DIFF 2026, many residents and tourists hope that soon the livable city of Da Nang will no longer have the problem of litter scattered after the city's events and festivals.

Before the opening ceremony, thousands of locals and tourists flocked to both banks of the Han River to await the match between the Vietnamese and Chinese teams.

The significant reduction in waste after the fireworks display not only contributes to a cleaner environment but also reduces the burden on sanitation workers.
