Minister Nguyen Chi Dung received Special Advisor to the Japan Parliamentary Friendship Union

(MPI) - On the afternoon of March 14, 2024, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung received Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Union, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Speaking at the reception, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung expressed his pleasure to meet again Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, a close friend of the Vietnamese people and the Minister himself; at the same time, he highly appreciated his activities and positive contributions to the Vietnam - Japan cooperative relationship in recent times.

In 2023, Vietnam and Japan upgraded their relationship to “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World”. This is a very important foundation to promote the cooperative relationship in the new period with many potential and strategic cooperation. “The issue is not just about upgrading the relationship, but more importantly, the two countries must organize and implement it to bring about practical results worthy of this relationship”, said Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.

Currently, Vietnamese ministries and sectors are actively implementing activities to concretize the contents of cooperation between the two sides. The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment is focusing on implementing contents to enhance cooperation in the coming time, including groups of issues of the new phase of the Vietnam - Japan Joint Initiative with many important contents.

Vietnam hopes that Japan and Mr. Takebe Tsutomu personally will pay attention to and support Vietnam through specific programs and projects in areas such as large-scale, high-quality infrastructure; energy conversion; digital transformation; green transformation, carbon emission reduction; promoting innovation; semiconductor industry; and strengthening support and cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises to improve competitiveness and connectivity to help Vietnamese enterprises participate more deeply in global value chains, the Minister emphasized.

For his part, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu also expressed his joy at meeting Minister Nguyen Chi Dung again; expressed his complete agreement with the opinions expressed by the Minister and said that the Vietnam - Japan cooperative relationship is currently in its best phase and the potential for cooperation in various fields is still very diverse; affirmed that he will continue to pay attention and support the promotion of cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the mentioned fields in order to "make a storm out of a few" to further develop the relationship between the two countries in the coming time.

Mr. Takebe Tsutomu added that the 9th Vietnam - Japan Festival, a large-scale Vietnam - Japan cultural exchange activity, was successfully held in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation and interest of many Vietnamese leaders, attracting nearly 400,000 visitors. Thereby, it contributed to strengthening the friendship and people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Japan.

Regarding specific areas of cooperation, including cooperation in human resource training, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu said that the construction of the Vietnam - Japan University and the establishment of the Japanese Language and Culture Center here will support and cooperate in training and developing human resources. In addition to training human resources with regional-level practical skills, this is also a practice-oriented professional training facility to train highly practical human resources, meeting the needs of Vietnam and Japan.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated the content and ideas in cooperation in training and human resource development, including the development of the Vietnam - Japan University; affirmed that the Ministry of Planning and Investment will closely coordinate with relevant ministries and branches in reviewing and resolving difficulties, promoting the progress of the construction of the Vietnam - Japan University headquarters. At the same time, he said that Vietnam will plan and build a railway line from the center of Hanoi to the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park. This has many meanings, including contributing to facilitating the development of the Vietnam - Japan University; hoping that the Japanese side will research, cooperate, and allocate preferential ODA capital to implement this project.

In the open and sincere atmosphere of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and Mr. Takebe Tsutomu expressed their joy at the results of Vietnam - Japan cooperation in recent times, especially the upgrading of relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world; frankly shared about the contents that can strengthen cooperation in the coming time, contributing to further enhancing the Vietnam - Japan cooperative relationship./.
