The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism highly appreciates the sense of responsibility and proactiveness of the Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center, and the museums and relic management boards in the area in disaster prevention, response, and mitigation efforts, contributing to minimizing damage to cultural heritage sites in the area.

However, due to the severe and widespread flooding that occurred from November 2nd to November 4th, and the complex developments of the natural disaster, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the People's Committee of Hue City to direct relevant agencies to inspect and review the condition of the collapsed section of the Imperial Citadel wall.

At the same time, inspect and review the technical condition of the monuments, structures, walls, roof tiles, foundations, and technical infrastructure of the Hue Imperial Citadel World Heritage Site in general and other monuments in the city in particular to assess the extent of damage in order to facilitate restoration and rehabilitation work.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's official letter also requested that local authorities promptly protect the site, preventing any collapse or landslides of structures at the historical site to ensure the safety of the site and the people surrounding it. At the same time, they should organize an inventory, review, and assessment of the preservation status of artifacts and antiques within the site that are affected or at risk of damage due to rain, flooding, or mold, in order to develop timely preservation plans and avoid irreparable losses.

In the long term, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposes that the People's Committee of Hue City direct the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City to coordinate with specialized agencies in the area to develop a Disaster Risk Management Plan, in order to be more proactive in identifying, preventing, responding to, mitigating and recovering from natural disaster risks for historical sites in the area.

Due to prolonged heavy rain and flooding, 15 meters of the Hue Imperial Citadel wall (along Dang Thai Than street, about 50 meters from Hoa Binh gate) collapsed. In addition, the floods also caused erosion of about 10 meters of the lake embankment at Tu Duc Mausoleum, and the wooden pillars at the Dai Cung Mon long corridor were submerged.

The Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center reopened its attractions within the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex from 9:00 AM on November 4th. Due to ongoing repairs to some equipment and electrical systems, the Center is issuing temporary tickets instead of electronic tickets.
