The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism highly appreciates the sense of responsibility and proactiveness of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hue City, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, museums and relic management boards in the area in the work of natural disaster prevention, response and overcoming the consequences of floods, contributing to minimizing damage to cultural heritages in the area.
However, due to natural disasters and floods occurring with intensity and wide scope from November 2 to November 4 with many complicated developments, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the People's Committee of Hue City to direct the relevant agencies to organize an inspection and review of the current status of the collapsed section of the Imperial Citadel wall.
At the same time, inspect and review the technical status of relic works, items, walls, tiled roofs, foundations and technical infrastructure of the World Heritage Complex of Hue Monuments in general and relics in the city to assess the level of damage to serve the restoration work.

The official dispatch of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also requested that localities promptly protect the site, prevent collapses and landslides of structures at the relic site to ensure the safety of the relic site and the safety of people around the relic site. At the same time, organize inventory, review and evaluate the preservation status of relics and antiquities in the relic site that are affected or at risk of damage due to rain, floods, and mold to develop timely preservation plans to avoid irreparable losses.

In the long term, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that the People's Committee of Hue City direct the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City to coordinate with specialized agencies in the area to develop a Disaster Risk Management Plan, in order to be more proactive in identifying, preventing, responding to, minimizing and recovering from natural disaster risks for relics in the area.
Due to prolonged rain and floods, 15m of the wall of Hue Imperial Citadel (on Dang Thai Than street, about 50m from Hoa Binh gate) collapsed. In addition, the rain and floods also caused about 10m of the lake embankment at Tu Duc tomb to collapse, and the wooden column system at Dai Cung Mon corridor was submerged in water.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center reopened tourist attractions in the Hue Monuments Complex from 9am on November 4. Due to the repair of some equipment and electrical systems, the Center issued temporary tickets instead of e-tickets.
