Following a shake-up in the tournament's participating teams, with Hoa Binh Football Club withdrawing and Phu Tho FC (formerly Gia Dinh Football Club) taking its place, the First Division Organizing Committee and VPF conducted a new draw.

According to the draw results this morning, Dong Nai Football Club will face their neighbor, Ho Chi Minh City Football Club, in the first round.
Dong Nai is a strong contender for the First Division title this season. The team from the Southeast region boasts many former national team players such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Minh Vuong, etc.
The first round of the First Division football league will kick off this September. Besides the teams from Dong Nai, Phu Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City, the tournament will also feature nine other teams: Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club, Bac Ninh , Long An, Khanh Hoa, Quy Nhon United, Van Hien University, PVF-CAND Youth, Quang Ninh, and Dong Thap Club.
The 2025-2026 First Division League will be played in a double round-robin format, with matches played at home and away, and points awarded to determine the rankings.
It is expected that the top two teams in the 2025-2026 First Division will be promoted to the V-League 2026-2027, while the two teams at the bottom of the table will be relegated to the Second Division next season.
Each club participating in this season's First Division will be allowed to register one foreign player, one naturalized foreign player, and two overseas Vietnamese players.
