Not only is Nhan Dan Newspaper participating in the tournament as a team with a rich tradition, but they are also entering this season with a special responsibility - to defend the championship title they won last season through hard work, courage, and team spirit.
On the morning of May 8th, at the 3rd floor of the Vietnam Journalists Association building, the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper held a technical meeting and draw for the pairings of the 5th Journalists and Public Opinion Cup Football Tournament in 2026.
A prestigious sporting arena for journalists.
This event is part of a series of activities leading up to the 101st anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2026); the 2026 National Press Conference; and the 30th anniversary of the first issue of the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper (July 10, 1996 - July 10, 2026).
After four successful seasons, the Journalists and Public Opinion Cup is not just a sporting event, but has become a familiar meeting place for journalists nationwide. With each season, the scale of the tournament has expanded, the number of teams has increased, and the professional quality has improved significantly.
2026 marks the fifth season. The tournament continues to be launched with the goal of creating a healthy exchange space where media organizations can strengthen connections, build teamwork, and recharge after professional pressures.

Speaking at the draw ceremony, journalist Vu Duc Dien, Editorial Board Member, Deputy Secretary General of the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Tournament, said: "The tournament is a meaningful traditional sporting event for the press, connecting journalists in a vibrant, united, and professional atmosphere. Not only is it an opportunity to improve health and demonstrate teamwork, the Journalists and Public Opinion Cup football tournament is also a symbolic activity – where journalists give their all on the field as well as on the information front. Through the round ball, the spirit of dedication, honesty, and humanity – the core values of journalism – are once again vividly honored."

Entering its fifth season, the tournament continues to bring together 16 teams from media agencies, organizations, and businesses, including: Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam News Agency, VOV, VTV, Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Vietnam Law Newspaper, Dan Tri Newspaper, VnExpress Newspaper, NTNN/Dan Viet Newspaper, Lao Dong Newspaper, Agriculture and Environment Newspaper, Hanoi Newspaper and Radio and Television, Life and Law Magazine, Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation, Nam Dinh Bridge and Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, and Nha Bao va Cong Luan Newspaper.
The teams will compete in 7-a-side football, promising exciting, captivating, and emotionally charged matches. From intense plays to warm handshakes after the game, every moment embodies the value of interaction, connection, and sharing within the journalistic community.
Besides the spirit of fair play, the tournament also has a rich prize structure to recognize the efforts and dedication of outstanding teams and individuals.
"After four successful seasons, the Journalists and Public Opinion Cup football tournament has become an indispensable meeting place for the journalistic community. It's where journalists temporarily leave their keyboards, lenses, and cameras to come together on the field, spreading joy and positive energy within the profession," journalist Vu Duc Dien emphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the refereeing team, referee Pham Minh Quang stated that most participating teams strictly adhered to the rules of the game and the referee's instructions on the field. However, during ball contests, there were still instances of high-intensity collisions due to the players' determined fighting spirit.
"Football always needs intensity to create excitement, but it's crucial that players maintain a spirit of fair play, respect their opponents, and minimize dangerous tackles that could lead to injuries. I hope the teams will remain calm and cooperate with the refereeing team to contribute to a civilized, safe, and united tournament for the press," added referee Pham Minh Quang.
