Báo Xây dựng•28/05/2026On May 28th, the AFC announced the Asian club rankings for the 2025-2026 season. Notably, the Vietnamese women's football team rose to sixth place in the continent for the first time with 68,522 points.
Of those points, 44,750 (70%) were awarded for club-level achievements, while 23,772 (30%) were awarded for achievements from the Vietnamese women's national team.
Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club has a good record in the AFC Women's Champions League 2025-2026.
This ranking is crucial for the AFC to determine qualification spots, as well as seeding groups for the qualifying and group stages of the Asian Women's Club Championships in the 2027-2028 season.
This result reflects the progress of Vietnamese women's football at the club level in recent years. Notably, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club made a strong impression at the AFC Women's Champions League 2025-2026, reaching the quarter-finals before losing 0-3 to Naegohyang FC.
In this latest ranking, Australia topped the list. This was due to Melbourne City FC reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Women's Champions League 2025-2026, while the Australian women's national team finished as runners-up in the 2026 Asian Women's Cup.
Following closely behind is Japan, thanks to the success of their club, Tokyo Verdy Beleza, who finished as runners-up in the AFC Women's Champions League 2025-2026. In addition, the Japanese women's national team also won the 2026 Asian Women's Cup.
The next positions on the ranking belong to South Korea, China, and North Korea, respectively. North Korea, despite only ranking 5th, has made the biggest stride, with their club Naegohyang FC winning the AFC Women's Champions League 2025-2026, and their national team reaching the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Women's Cup.
