The relationship between Bruno Fernandes and Roy Keane continues to be strained as the Portuguese midfielder bluntly called the former Manchester United captain a "liar".

In an interview with the program "The Diary of a CEO," Fernandes stated that he always accepts criticism in football. However, what bothers the 31-year-old star is when his statements are misinterpreted.

Previously, Roy Keane criticized Fernandes on the show "The Overlap." The former Irish star argued that the Manchester United captain was too focused on chasing individual assist records instead of putting the team's best interests first.

The controversy stemmed from Fernandes's statement after the match against Nottingham Forest on May 17th. At the time, the Portuguese midfielder admitted that he sometimes took too many shots instead of passing the ball to his teammates. However, Keane interpreted it as Fernandes intentionally passing to increase his assist tally.

"What I don't like is when people lie about what I say. Everything is clearly recorded," Fernandes said.

The Manchester United star revealed he even asked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Keane's phone number so he could text him directly. Fernandes insisted he didn't mind being criticized for being incompetent, not good enough to be captain, or not suitable for the club. But having his words distorted was beyond acceptable limits.

Despite the controversy, Fernandes has had a standout season individually. In the match against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, he registered his 21st assist in the Premier League this season, surpassing the previous record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
