In late October, the natural landscape of southern Germany is adorned with vibrant shades of red and yellow.
Located in the heart of Europe, autumn in Germany typically begins in September and ends around November each year. During this time, the entire country transforms with vibrant shades of red and yellow.
Southern Germany in autumn is a picturesque blend of red maple leaves, golden oak leaves, and the lush green of meadows and mountains.
Mr. Tran Xuan Hau (30 years old, from Nghe An province), who has lived and worked in Germany for about two years, captured these moments in Waldshut-Tiengen. Waldshut-Tiengen, often called Waldshut, is a city located in the south of the canton of Baden-Württemberg, bordering Switzerland.
By the end of October, along the route from Waldshut-Tiengen to the Black Forest in Todtnau, the leaves had already begun to change color noticeably. According to Mr. Hau, autumn arrived later this year than last year. Therefore, the best time for the leaves to turn golden is from now until around the end of November.
At the Blackforestline suspension bridge in AuBer Ort 38, 79674 Todtnau, the red maple trees are slowly changing color, creating a unique and natural ombre effect. While walking on the bridge, visitors can admire the vibrant red hues all around.
Looking down from the suspension bridge, the roads stretch between rows of trees whose leaves change color, as if leading to some fairytale land.
The houses, with their neutral color schemes, are neatly arranged along the road, creating a "gentle, elegant, and poetic" picture.
At the foot of Scheibenfelsen Hill are vast stretches of green grass. In summer, the scenery is a refreshing shade of green. But autumn is when the foliage truly reveals its beauty. Golden-leaved oak trees intermingle with rows of green pines, creating a striking contrast in the natural landscape. "The peaceful beauty is replaced by a poetic and romantic atmosphere," Hậu shared.
Upon arriving in the village of Bernau im Schwarzwald, the autumn scenery sparked his desire to move there in the future. "Although there are few households, the trees and houses here are so beautiful, as if someone had intentionally decorated them," he said.
As a wedding designer, Hau frequently travels back and forth between countries in the Schengen Area such as Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and Finland.
Having witnessed the changing of seasons in many places, for Hau, autumn in Germany is the time when he goes sightseeing and takes the most photos. Even without the red and yellow leaves, nature in Germany in autumn is deeply poetic, helping to relax the mind.
Visiting Germany in the autumn, tourists can also visit the Rakotz Bridge, or Devil's Bridge, in Gablenz, one of Germany's famous tourist attractions.
Or simply strolling through the streets of Berlin, Heidelberg, or Freiburg, visitors can also take in the classic romantic beauty of a European country in autumn.
The autumn foliage season in Germany is expected to last for the next 2-3 weeks. Currently, the weather in Germany is quite favorable, sunny and warm, making it convenient for sightseeing, photography, and other activities.
Tourists can combine admiring the autumn foliage with visiting famous castles and palaces in Germany such as Neuschwanstein, Hohenzollern, Wartburg, and Schwerin.
