(QBĐT) - As the only student from the History team to compete at a higher level in the National Excellent Student Selection Exam for the 2022-2023 school year, Bui Quang Ha, a 11th-grade student specializing in History at Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted, excellently won first prize, bringing joy and pride to his family, teachers, and friends, and contributing to affirming the quality of excellent students in the province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, head of the History gifted student team at Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School, could not hide her joy, saying that after a six-year absence from the national History gifted student selection exam, Bui Quang Ha, the youngest member of the eight-student team, had excellently brought home the first prize.
Today's achievement is the result of tireless effort and a passion for History since Ha was in middle school. Ha recounts that History and Math are two subjects she loves. In 9th grade, after much deliberation, she finally chose History and won third prize at the provincial-level excellent student selection exam. Following that, at the entrance exam to Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School, Ha continued her journey of self-affirmation by becoming the runner-up in the 10th-grade History specialization.
The more Bùi Quang Hà became involved with the subject, the more fascinating aspects of History he discovered. Attentively and passionately following his teachers' lectures in class, taking thorough notes, carefully correcting mistakes; persistently memorizing all the milestones and events; always learning from older students and friends; reading many books, watching historical films, and especially developing his self-learning abilities – these are the "secrets" to Bùi Quang Hà's impressive string of achievements.
Along with the learning environment at Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School in general, and the 11th grade History class in particular; the care and attention of the teachers, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, the homeroom teacher of the History gifted student team, the person who had the greatest influence on Bui Quang Ha's choice and achievements today is his mother.
Ha shared that her mother is a former history student at Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted and won third prize in the National Excellent Student Competition. Throughout her childhood, in the everyday conversations of her family, her mother's passion for history was passed on to her without her even realizing it. Her mother has always been her companion throughout her journey, especially in her understanding and empathy for history lessons.

With the care and encouragement of his teachers, parents, and friends, Bui Quang Ha studied diligently and confidently conquered a series of increasingly high achievements. In 10th grade, he participated in the provincial-level gifted student competition for 11th graders and won third prize; in 11th grade, he competed for 12th graders and won second prize. After being selected as one of the eight students on the national team for the History gifted student competition, Ha excelled and won first prize.
“This school year's History team also won two second prizes and one consolation prize. The second prize went to Phan Lam Dung and Phan Phuoc Hoan; the consolation prize went to Dang Minh Ngoc. These students had previously achieved high scores in the provincial and national excellent student selection exams in the 2021-2022 school year. And Bui Quang Ha, with his confidence and outstanding performance, became the first student from Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School to participate in an advanced-level competition and win first prize at the national excellent student selection exam,” shared teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong.
Always diligent and rarely missing a class, despite a very busy schedule, especially during his time on the team, Ha still finds time for his passion for football and mathematics. Bui Quang Ha is also an energetic, enthusiastic, and mature deputy secretary of the youth union.
When asked about her plans, Ha said that with the results she has achieved, many paths are now open to her, but she is still considering her options. For now, besides continuing to focus on History, Ha is concentrating on improving her English to open up more opportunities in the future.
At the 2022-2023 National Excellent Student Selection Exam, Quang Binh province won 28 awards, including: 1 first prize, 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 17 consolation prizes. Bui Quang Ha's first prize significantly contributed to improving the province's ranking in the national excellent student team. Specifically, Quang Binh ranked 23rd out of 69 provinces in terms of award quality and 35th out of 69 in terms of award rate. |
