On January 6th, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, along with representatives from various departments, directly visited and inquired about the health and treatment progress of striker Bui Vi Hao and goalkeeper Nguyen Tan.
These two players sustained injuries while preparing with the Vietnam U23 team for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Championship. Immediately after flying back to Vietnam from Saudi Arabia, the players were taken to Vinmec Hospital for thorough examination and assessment.
The diagnosis revealed that Vi Hao suffered a fractured right fibula, and is expected to need approximately 6-8 weeks of rehabilitation before he can return to training and competition.
Nguyen Tan suffered soft tissue damage to his left shoulder and requires treatment for approximately 2-3 weeks, after which his recovery status will be reassessed.
Vi Hao suffered a recurrence of his injury during training on January 4th, while Nguyen Tan has been experiencing pain since December 28th, 2025. According to his personal wishes, Nguyen Tan will return to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, while Vi Hao will return to the Becamex Ho Chi Minh City Club to continue his treatment and rehabilitation.
The VFF Sports Medicine Department will continue to closely monitor and coordinate with the clubs in tracking, evaluating, and conducting regular check-ups to ensure the best possible recovery process for the two players.
Although unable to be present in person, Vi Hao and Nguyen Tan said they will watch the U23 Vietnam matches online to cheer on their teammates at the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Championship.
