Forced to fire teacher who strangled colleague

A teacher who strangled a colleague in the middle of the schoolyard, causing public outrage and seriously violating teacher ethics, has been forced to resign.

On October 30, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province agreed to the disciplinary measure of forcing Mr. Dang Tang, a math teacher at Vo Nguyen Giap High School, Ea O commune, to quit his job. Mr. Tang was the one who strangled his colleague right at school.

According to the school's report, while serving the disciplinary warning, Mr. Tang continued to push a colleague in the neck right in the school yard, seriously affecting the teaching environment and the reputation of the teacher.

Earlier, on the morning of October 3, when Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh - Secretary of the school's Youth Union - was checking the order in the school grounds and admonishing Mr. Tang for parking his car in the wrong place, Mr. Tang raised his voice and choked Mr. Sinh twice in front of students and security guards.

The school has drawn up a record, recorded the injuries and reported the incident to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province and Ea O commune police for handling according to regulations.

On October 18, Vo Nguyen Giap High School held a meeting to review Mr. Dang Tang.

At the meeting, Mr. Tang did not write a self-criticism, had an inquisitive attitude, laughed, filmed, and took photos during the meeting. All officers, teachers, and employees attending the meeting expressed their indignation and unanimously requested the establishment of a disciplinary council to consider and handle the matter according to regulations.

The disciplinary council was established according to the decision of October 20. In the meeting on October 25, Mr. Tang continued to have a defiant and uncooperative attitude. 100% of the council members voted to apply the disciplinary measure of forced dismissal against him.

A report sent to the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province said that from 2013 to now, Mr. Dang Tang has been disciplined five times at different levels (reprimand, warning) at two high schools, Tran Nhan Tong and Vo Nguyen Giap. Despite being warned, he continued to re-offend during the time of being warned.

After reviewing the school's records and opinions, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province determined that Mr. Tang's actions were serious in nature, extent and harm, causing public outrage and negatively affecting the image of teachers and the pedagogical environment.

Dak Lak Province Department of Education and Training agreed with the proposal of Vo Nguyen Giap High School and decided to discipline and force Mr. Dang Tang to quit his job.
