Mudskippers are a vibrant pink color.
A peculiar mudskipper is currently at the home of Mrs. Ngo Thi Tien (Dat Mui commune). Her nephew caught the fish in the local coastal mangrove area. The fish weighs about 150g and still retains all its biological characteristics such as scales, teeth, and is very active.
However, unlike native mudskippers which are typically black or gray, this mudskipper possesses a vibrant pink hue and the ability to change color depending on the lighting conditions.

Mudskippers with their exceptionally rare colors are attracting a lot of attention.
According to Ms. Tien, when the fish was first brought home and placed under a night light, it was reddish-pink. By morning, its skin had turned yellow and light pink, highlighted by its striking blue eyes. Besides its unusual coloration, this mudskipper also possesses significantly longer whiskers on its head compared to other similar fish that locals usually catch.
Ms. Tien had never seen mudskippers with such an unusual pink color before, so she took photos and videos and posted them on social media, attracting the attention of many people.
Ca Mau is famous for having the largest mangrove forest area in the country and is home to many species of organisms. Among them, the mudskipper is a unique fish that can live both in water and on land, and remarkably, it can even climb trees.
Previously, mudskippers had no economic value. However, since the development of tourism, mudskippers have become a culinary specialty of Ca Mau province. Tourists visiting Ca Mau all want to enjoy grilled mudskippers with salt and chili or grilled plain.
Currently, this fish species can only reproduce naturally, so it is also facing pressure from declining numbers.
