This information was provided by Mr. Ho Trung Viet, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, at a press conference on May 29th regarding the incident where a recording allegedly showing the Vice Chairman of the Phu Tan District People's Committee demanding the return of a construction project commissioned by the Vice Chairman of the Phu Tan District People's Committee went viral on social media.

Two days ago, a Facebook account named Hai Nguyen posted a nearly two-minute audio recording allegedly of Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Vice Chairman of Phu Tan District, speaking with a contractor. The recording revealed that the district was considering awarding the contract for the Phu Tan Commune Cultural and Sports Center to a contractor, but the contractor's 20% contribution was deemed "a bit weaker than other units." After explaining that the 30% contribution was too high, the contractor was told to "follow the rules of the game; how can we do anything if we don't? Let's do some research and see what we can do."

According to the Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, this morning the provincial People's Committee convened a meeting to hear presentations from the relevant parties. Nguyen Van Son, Vice Chairman of Phu Tan District, stated that he was not the person mentioned in the audio recording and requested that the authorities verify the information. After the investigation, the province will provide information to the press.

A representative from the Ca Mau Department of Information and Communications stated that the Facebook account that posted the audio recording was created on May 27th. However, the account holder used the anonymity feature, so authorities have not yet been able to find specific information. The Department is currently verifying information about the account.

The units present at the press conference did not provide information on the investment costs and construction progress of the community cultural center project.
