According to the South China Morning Post, this special coffee costs 32 yuan (about $4) and is described as having three layers of flavor: top, middle, and aftertaste. The higher the level, the more pronounced the taste of pork offal.

Coffee with pig's offal sparks controversy on social media.

"Braised pork intestines in red sauce is a very popular specialty dish in Giang Du. I wanted to combine this traditional dish from my hometown with coffee to both promote the restaurant and introduce local cuisine ," shared owner Truong Vu Tri.

According to Mr. Truong, the restaurant sources cooked pork offal from a famous restaurant in the city, then extracts the broth and mixes it with latte.

"We precisely measure 6g of pork offal into each cup of coffee – a number derived from numerous trials. We want customers to appreciate the delicious taste of the pork offal without losing the distinctive flavor of the coffee. We hope that most customers will find this combination pleasant," said Mr. Truong.

He described the overall flavor as a "sweet and salty blend," similar to... salty cheese.

Since the coffee infused with cooked pig intestines went viral in early June, sales at a coffee shop in Jiangyou (Sichuan province, China) have more than quadrupled. According to the owner, 80% of customers now come to try this unique beverage.

"I'm a huge coffee lover. When I saw someone recommending 'pork offal coffee' online, I decided to give it a try," shared a female customer from Chengdu (Sichuan).

Another visitor from northern China also commented: "Many people in the north are not used to eating pig's offal, but I think this type of coffee is still acceptable."

On Chinese social media, the story quickly attracted attention. "This idea isn't bad. I'd like to try it," one user commented.

Meanwhile, others objected: "That's strange. I like coffee, and I don't mind eating pork offal, but combining the two is not a good idea at all."

"Oh, just hearing about it makes me nauseous, a culinary disaster"; "Anything can happen"; "Instead of eating a bowl of offal porridge and then having a cup of coffee, let's mix them together, it'll be quicker"; "Coffee as a laxative"... - some netizens commented.

Bold and unconventional coffee brewing methods are not uncommon in China. Previously, a coffee shop in Jiangxi province (eastern China) attracted attention for serving lattes with fried chili peppers and spicy pepper powder.

In Yunnan province (southwest), another shop also went viral online for selling coffee with crispy fried worms.
