The Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency has initiated legal proceedings and detained Mr. Dinh Long Nhat (59 years old; singer, stage name Long Nhat) and Son Ngoc Minh (36 years old; singer, stage name Son Ngoc Minh) along with more than 70 other people to investigate the crimes of "illegally buying and selling narcotics," "illegally possessing narcotics," and "organizing the illegal use of narcotics."
When questioned by the police about his criminal behavior, singer Long Nhật confessed to purchasing and using this banned substance.
According to singer Long Nhật: "I used crystal meth and used it with a housekeeper and a 'follower' who came to visit. This 'housekeeper' is Long Nhật's manager, Nguyễn Minh Nhật."
The drugs were purchased from Kieu Quoc Nha for 500,000 VND. When Nha delivered them, "the kids" received and used them in the singer's house. In this house, Long Nhat let Minh Nhat stay in the room next to his and used drugs in Minh Nhat's room."
Singer Long Nhật was arrested for drug-related offenses.
Singer Long Nhật further testified that the drug paraphernalia was managed and stored by Minh Nhật. The male singer transferred 1 million VND to buy drugs, of which 500,000 VND was for the drugs themselves and the rest was for transportation.
The male singer confessed to using drugs from April 23rd until the day of his arrest. The drugs were "cooked" by Minh Nhật and his friend, and then Long Nhật consumed them.
According to initial investigations, the police have arrested and processed 74 individuals. Of these, 71 have been charged and detained for investigation into the illegal buying, selling, possession, and organization of drug use; the remaining 3 cases were handled administratively according to regulations.
Long Nhật, whose real name is Đinh Long Nhật, was born in 1967 in Huế . He became a well-known singer in the early 1990s, pursuing a musical style influenced by folk music, hometown songs, and bolero.
Born into a family with a tradition in the arts, Long Nhật participated in cultural activities from an early age before embarking on a professional singing career. During his career, the male singer released many songs associated with his name, such as "Mấy nhịp cầu tre" (Several Bamboo Bridges), "Tình Huế" (Hue Love), "Gió về miền xuôi" (Wind Blowing to the Lowlands), "Ở hai đầu nỗi nhớ" (At Both Ends of the Memory), "Ai ra xứ Huế" (Who Goes to Hue)... Long Nhật's works are mainly associated with the genres of folk, traditional, and lyrical music.
Throughout his years in the arts, Long Nhật has frequently appeared on music stages, television programs, and entertainment events. Besides singing, he has also participated in game shows, reality programs, and other television-related entertainment activities.
Long Nhật is married and has children. In several media appearances, he has stated that his wife and children live a private life and rarely participate in entertainment activities. The singer's family life was once of public interest when he shared about the time he lived away from his family to pursue his artistic career.
