Rowing teams in fierce pursuit on Dong Da Lake

On March 26, at Dong Da ecological lake (Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Dinh province organized the first Binh Dinh province traditional boat racing tournament in 2024.

More than 200 athletes from 18 teams in localities in Binh Dinh province participated in the boat racing tournament.

Athletes compete in the following categories: commune, ward and town levels compete in qualifying rounds and finals at distances of 800 m and 1,600 m; district, town and city levels compete in qualifying rounds and finals at distances of 800 m and 1,600 m.

The athletes promoted the spirit of solidarity, bringing the audience an exciting and thrilling race.

Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien (64 years old, in Thi Nai Ward, Quy Nhon City) said, "After many days of waiting, today the traditional boat racing tournament of Binh Dinh province was held for the first time at Dong Da ecological lake. Watching the athletes compete, I was very satisfied, the teams continuously chased each other to compete, very dramatic"

The traditional boat racing tournament of Binh Dinh province is not only an opportunity for fishermen to meet and exchange, but also helps young people in the region to improve their health, serve fishing, aquaculture, develop family economy , and contribute to enriching the homeland.

Speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, said that the first traditional boat racing tournament of Binh Dinh province is held to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2024) and carry out the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".

The boat race takes place over 2 days: March 26 and 27.

This is an event within the Amazing Binh Dinh Fest 2024 week, contributing to promoting the image of Quy Nhon City's sea tourism to domestic and international tourists.
