VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan had an important meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam

On the afternoon of July 2, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan had a meeting and worked with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam - Mr. Ito Naoki. The meeting aimed to discuss some cooperation contents between Vietnamese and Japanese football, and at the same time promote football exchange and development activities between the two countries in the coming period.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan congratulated Mr. Ito Naoki on being appointed by the Japanese Government as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, and expressed his belief that the Ambassador's term of office will contribute to further promoting the cooperative relationship between the two countries in general and between Vietnam and Japan football in particular.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed that since the two federations signed and upgraded the comprehensive strategic cooperation memorandum in 2018 under the witness of the two countries ' Prime Ministers , the relationship between VFF and the Japan Football Federation has increasingly developed substantially in many fields.

The two sides will closely coordinate at regional and international football forums; increase the exchange of experts and technical personnel; support training and competition for national teams; share experiences in running professional tournaments and developing youth football. The two federations also agree to protect the traditional values ​​of football, considering football an effective means of promoting international understanding and social development.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan shared that, based on the cooperation memorandum between VFF and the Japan Football Federation, Vietnamese teams regularly have plans to train and compete in Japan.

Recently, the national women's team trained in Osaka to prepare for the 2026 Asian Women's Cup qualifiers. In the near future, the U.20 women's team and U.17 men's team also plan to train in Japan, aiming for the key goals of the U.20 women's Asian qualifiers and the U.17 World Cup qualifiers.

Vietnamese coaches study Pro Coaching class in Japan

In addition, 18 coaches from V-League clubs, first division clubs and national teams are also attending the Pro Coaching course - phase 2 at the Japan National Football Center, under the direct guidance of Mr. Kageyama Masanaga - Technical Director of the Japan Football Association (JFA) and Mr. Koshida Takeshi - Technical Director of the VFF.

In addition, many Japanese football experts have been working in Vietnam in various fields, from technical director, League executive director, to coaches of Vietnamese national teams and clubs. Currently, the head coach of the Vietnam U.20 women's team is Japanese expert Okiyama Masahiko, and in the near future, there will be another Japanese expert in charge of coaching the men's youth team.

Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed his joy at having his first working session with VFF since taking up his post in Vietnam, and highly appreciated the potential for developing relations between the two football associations in the context of Vietnam-Japan relations being in a period of strong development. The Ambassador affirmed that football is a cultural bridge with great influence in the community and pledged to make efforts to continue to be an effective bridge in promoting cooperation between the two federations.

Kawasaki Frontale Club will play a friendly match with a club in Vietnam

On this occasion, Ambassador Ito Naoki conveyed to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan the proposal from Kawasaki Frontale Club to organize a friendly match with a Vietnamese club, towards the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The match is also expected to open a new direction of cooperation between Kawasaki Frontale Club in particular and J-League clubs in general with Vietnamese football, especially in the development of young players.

President Tran Quoc Tuan thanked and welcomed the Ambassador's proposal, emphasizing that the match would not only celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, but also serve as a premise to expand in-depth cooperation programs between the clubs of the two countries. VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and the Ambassador agreed to assign the leaders of the relevant parties to proactively coordinate, choose the appropriate time and location, and ensure the event is organized with the highest efficiency.
