Indian parliamentary leaders highly appreciate the central role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Vietnam's progress and development, as well as his role in the India-Vietnam friendship.

On the morning of July 22, before the start of the budget session, both the President of the Upper House of Parliament, Jagdeep Dhankhar, and the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Om Birla, read messages of condolence on the passing of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong.
In their message of condolence, Indian parliamentary leaders stated that during his 13 years as General Secretary, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was respected by all segments of the Vietnamese people.
Indian parliamentary leaders highly appreciate the central role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Vietnam's progress and development, as well as his role in the India-Vietnam friendship and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
In addition, Indian parliamentary leaders also emphasized that before being elected General Secretary, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong had held the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, along with many other important positions.
On behalf of the Indian House of Representatives, Speaker Om Birla extended his deepest condolences to the Government of Vietnam and expressed solidarity with the people and leaders of Vietnam during this time of sorrow.
Indian parliamentarians also observed a moment of silence in memory of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
