State news agency SONNA and Somalia's central television station SNTV announced that the gunman's blockade of the Pearl Beach luxury hotel in the capital Mogadishu from the evening of June 9 was over.
The incident left at least seven people injured.
"Security forces neutralized the Kharijite gunmen who carried out the terrorist attack at the Pearl Beach hotel in Mogadishu," SNTV said.
The incident happened at the popular Peak restaurant in the Pearl Beach hotel, which is frequented by officials. Many civilians were rescued during this operation.
The Kharijite fighters belong to the Islamic armed group Al-Shabaab, which has ties to the international terrorist network Al-Qaeda and has waged an insurgency against the Somali federal government for the past 15 years.
In November 11, the group attacked another hotel in Mogadishu, killing nine people. In 2022, Al-Shabaab also carried out a large-scale attack on a hotel in Lido beach, killing 9 civilians and a policeman.
