Of the 7 top-scoring students from the five traditional university entrance exam combinations, three chose Foreign Trade University, and two studied at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Tran Nguyet Hang, top scorer in the A00 combination (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry), Vu Hoang Luong Huy, top scorer in A01 (Mathematics, Physics, English), and Pham Thi Van Anh, top scorer in D01 (Mathematics, Literature, English), all said they chose the Foreign Trade University as their first choice.

Candidates must register and adjust their university admission preferences before 5 PM on July 30th. Preferences will be considered from top to bottom, independently of each other. If a candidate is admitted to a particular preference, all subsequent preferences will be automatically cancelled. With the highest scores in each subject combination, top-scoring candidates are guaranteed admission to the major listed as their first preference.

Nguyệt Hằng registered for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Lương Huy chose Economics , both at the Ho Chi Minh City campus. Meanwhile, Vân Anh studied International Economics at the main campus in Hanoi. All three also registered for another option, also at the Foreign Trade University.

For the past two weeks, Nguyet Hang has been studying English to prepare for the school's entrance exam. "I haven't set any specific goals, I just hope to achieve the best results possible, because my English skills aren't very good," Hang said.

Meanwhile, Van Anh often reads articles about the school written by alumni. She particularly enjoys articles about peer pressure.

"In an environment with many talented people, if you don't stand out, it's easy to feel left behind. I was advised that this is inevitable, but to try to focus on my own goals and not be negative or overly pessimistic," Van Anh said.

Nguyen Manh Thang and Nguyen Manh Hung, the top scorers in the A00 group with 29.35 points, both chose Hanoi University of Science and Technology, majoring in Information Technology. Both stated that they carefully checked their registration information to ensure there were no errors or mistakes.

Thang said he had researched scholarships and clubs at the school. "I plan to join the student volunteer club, and if I have time, I'll join the sports club too," Thang said.

Mai Duy Anh Quân, the top scorer in the B00 group (Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology) with 29.8 points, has finalized his application for Medicine at Hanoi Medical University.

"I'm determined to become a doctor partly because I want to fulfill my mother's unfinished dream, as well as help many patients in difficult circumstances...", Quân told VnExpress on July 18.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Viet Khoi Nguyen, the top scorer in the C00 group (Literature, History, Geography) with 29.5 points, only placed one application in the Faculty of Economic Law at Hanoi Law University.

Khoi Nguyen said this has been his long-held wish, so he didn't set any other goals. The male student said he is studying English to make the transition to university easier and to have a chance to find a part-time job.

The high school graduation exam took place on June 28-29 with over one million candidates. According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, after 20 days of opening the university admissions system, more than 660,000 candidates had registered. The total number of nguyện vọng (preferences/choices) was 3.4 million, with an average of more than 5 preferences per candidate.

Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training's admissions system has closed the registration and nguyện vọng (preference) adjustment functions. From July 31st, candidates can submit their application fees online. The expected university admission scores will be announced on August 22nd.
