In this new phase of development, especially with the implementation of urban governance, Dong Nai faces the need to reshape its growth model to create a new breakthrough. Movements in infrastructure, high-tech industries, logistics, urbanization, and the digital economy are opening up opportunities for high and sustainable economic growth in Dong Nai.
Strategic infrastructure and modern industrial development
The first driving force worth mentioning is the strategic infrastructure development of Dong Nai. The city is one of the rare localities that simultaneously possesses many key national infrastructure projects. Long Thanh International Airport is considered a "century-long breakthrough," not only for Dong Nai but also for the entire Southern key economic region.
Upon completion, Long Thanh Airport will become one of the largest airports in Southeast Asia, capable of serving tens of millions of passengers and a massive volume of cargo annually. This opens up entirely new development opportunities for logistics, international trade, aviation services, and airport cities.
According to economic experts, if Dong Nai makes good use of the advantages of Long Thanh Airport and the inter-regional infrastructure system, it can completely become a leading logistics center in the Southern region in the future, creating momentum for long-term and sustainable growth.
In addition, a series of strategic transportation routes are being strongly developed, such as: the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, the Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City, the Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway, etc. When these routes are fully connected, Dong Nai will become an important "junction" between Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Highlands, Central Vietnam, and the Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport area.
Dong Nai's major advantage lies in its comprehensive transportation infrastructure, including roads, railways, inland waterways, maritime routes, air routes, and, in the future, high-speed rail. According to Professor Vo Xuan Vinh, Director of the Institute for Business Research at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, transportation infrastructure plays a vital role in the economy, connecting regions and promoting efficient trade. The synchronized development of these transportation modes helps Dong Nai develop its economy in a green, clean, and sustainable direction.
