How to make basil rolls with grilled beef

Ingredients: 800g beef, a bunch of basil, mint leaves, chili peppers, shallots, onions, sugar, MSG, lemon, good quality fish sauce, wooden skewers.

Instructions: Marinate the beef with ½ chopped onion, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon fish sauce, a little ground pepper, chili, and chopped mint leaves. Mix well and let it marinate for 30 minutes to allow the beef to absorb the flavors.

After marinating, use a spoon to scoop a sufficient amount of beef and roll it into tight balls. Next, wrap each beef ball with a basil leaf and use a bamboo skewer to secure the ends of the leaf. Repeat until all the beef is used up.

Brush both sides of the beef skewers with cooking oil to make the meat juicy, glossy, and prevent it from drying out during grilling. Next, prepare a charcoal grill and place the skewers on the grill rack, then grill until the meat is cooked through and slightly charred. During grilling, you can brush with oil and turn the skewers frequently to prevent burning. You can use an oven to grill the meat, but the result will not be as delicious as grilling over charcoal.

Preparing the dipping sauce: This dish will be served with a dipping sauce that has a harmonious sweet and sour flavor. Combine 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and half of the remaining onion in a bowl. Stir well, then finely chop the chili peppers and add them to create a balanced sweet, sour, and slightly spicy sauce.

And that completes the basil-wrapped beef dish. This dish tastes best when served hot, as the meat is then sweet and tender. You can also prepare lettuce, herbs, mint, and cucumber to serve with it.
