| Mr. Luong Van Dinh (in the red shirt) participates in a volunteer trip to the flood-affected area of Kim Van, Van Lang commune. |
Mr. Dinh has a sturdy build, sun-tanned skin, and a constant smile on his face. Whenever he speaks, his voice is clear and resonant, his eyes bright and friendly, radiating abundant energy and a rare optimistic spirit. As a village Front Committee official, he always proactively monitors the situation, listens to the concerns of the people, and promptly advises, proposes, and organizes practical support activities.
As soon as the storm subsided, Mr. Dinh, along with village officials, braved the rain and wind to visit each household, assess the damage, encourage residents to maintain their composure, and advise households at risk of landslides to move to safe areas. Undeterred by danger, he traveled along flooded roads, bridges, and streams to provide timely warnings and help people prevent accidents.
Seeing that many households in the village suffered heavy damage after the storm, mostly disadvantaged families, he proactively called for support and organized two relief efforts for the people.
In the first phase, he helped 12 households affected by landslides by distributing rice and essential supplies. In the second phase, he continued to mobilize support for these households with essential items such as rice, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking oil, instant noodles, etc., totaling tens of millions of dong. Previously, he had raised nearly 10 million dong to repair a damaged suspension bridge, making it easier for people to travel.
After helping the people of Na Lam village overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives, he continued to mobilize benefactors and connect with charitable organizations to bring gifts, necessities, and financial assistance directly to the people in neighboring areas such as Vinh Thong, Van Lang, and Kim Van, which suffered even more severe damage.
From the first households helped in Na Lam, that spirit of compassion gradually spread to other communes, becoming a source of moral support, helping people in flood-affected areas alleviate difficulties and quickly stabilize their lives after the natural disaster.
In October alone, he coordinated with the Bang Thanh Commune Police to call on a charitable group to provide 120 gift packages worth 120 million VND to the people of Lung Sien village, Vinh Thong commune. A week later, he connected with another charitable group from Quang Ninh to bring 150 gift packages, totaling over 170 million VND, to Van Lang and Vinh Thong communes, including over 2 tons of rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, medicine, blankets, books, and school supplies. Following that, he also raised over 70 million VND to help flood victims in Kim Van, Van Lang commune.
In addition to organizing relief efforts, he also coordinated with local authorities and organizations to receive, sort, and distribute relief supplies directly to the people, ensuring that they reached the right recipients in a fair and transparent manner.
Currently, Mr. Dinh is still actively seeking support to build a 250-meter-long concrete road into Na Lam village, which is expected to cost around 30 million VND. He is also taking on additional cleaning work at a local school, and he will contribute his wages to the road construction alongside the villagers. (Mr. Luong Van Dinh) Sharing: "As long as I'm healthy and able to travel, I'll try my best to help. If I don't help people in need, I feel guilty."
