| Binh Yen commune has the advantage of having a large tea growing area. |
Ms. Xíu shared: "Since joining the cooperative, we have received guidance on safe tea cultivation and harvesting techniques. The cooperative's products have achieved OCOP 3-star standards, so they have gained more trust from consumers. We are also more enthusiastic and committed to tea cultivation."
Currently, Binh Yen commune has over 530 hectares of tea plantations, of which about 500 hectares are for commercial production, and the rest is newly planted. The annual production of fresh tea leaves reaches approximately 6,400 tons. The commune has 13 agricultural cooperatives, with 6 products achieving OCOP 3-star rating.
Tea cultivation not only provides a stable source of income for thousands of households but also creates regular jobs for many rural workers, contributing to reducing the number of poor households in the commune to 264. Implementing Resolution No. 11 of the Provincial Party Committee on the development of the tea industry, Binh Yen is focusing on implementing a comprehensive set of solutions such as supporting seedlings, transferring technology, promoting production linkages, trade promotion, and building product brands.
Mr. Ngo Xuan Dien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Yen commune, said: "The locality has identified the development of tea cultivation in a way that enhances its value as a key task. We are strengthening support for people to apply science and technology, expanding linkages with businesses and cooperatives to improve the quality and value of tea products."
Based on these initial results, it is clear that tea cultivation is becoming an important "lever" in local economic development.
