The THCT-105TM2 anti-tank system uses decoy warheads that can neutralize active defense systems, helping to destroy modern tanks.

The THCT-105TM2 anti-tank system is one of the typical products widely introduced to the public by the General Department of Defense Industry on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2. This weapon system also demonstrates the continuous development of the Vietnamese defense industry in manufacturing and producing many types of modern anti-tank guns, serving in training as well as combat readiness tasks of the Army.

THCT-105TM2 is also the latest domestically developed and produced anti-tank weapon that can counter modern tanks equipped with explosive reactive armor and active defense systems.

According to published data, THCT-105TM2 weighs 13.8 kg, has a straight firing range (with a target 2 m high) of 200 m, a maximum firing range of 400 m and fires through a 105 mm main barrel and a 42 mm secondary barrel. The complex can fire at tanks with 600 mm thick explosive reactive armor.

The special feature of the THCT-105TM2 anti-tank system is the use of a decoy warhead. This warhead is used to neutralize active defense systems on tanks, thereby helping the main bullet destroy the target.

Nowadays, every type of tank has an active defense system. This system helps the tank detect incoming bullets within 0.5 seconds. Then, the tank will launch a bullet to intercept the attacking bullet.

However, with THCT-105TM2, the decoy warhead will be launched first, causing the enemy tank to activate its active defense system, launching a warhead to destroy it, about 0.15 seconds later, the main warhead will be fired. In the photo is the decoy bullet of THCT-105TM2.

At that time, the tank's active defense system did not have time to restart a second time (startup time is 0.5 seconds), leading to its destruction.

According to published data, the main ammunition of THCT-105TM2 is DTC-105TM2. This is a 105 mm ammunition, 1.1 m long, 6.8 kg in weight, capable of penetrating steel when there is explosive reactive armor greater than or equal to 600 mm.
