The trend of painting the national flag on roofs or doors is spreading and being discussed a lot on social networks. Besides the positive message of expressing patriotism and national pride, this trend still leaves concerns. In light of this reality, Vinh Phuc Newspaper interviewed Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture andEducation, about this issue.
Dear Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, currently, on social media platforms, there are many images and videos of people nationwide drawing and painting flags on their roofs or doors. What do you think about this trend?
The trend of painting and drawing flags on rooftops or doors is spreading on social media, bringing both positive and negative impacts. On the positive side, this is a way to express patriotism, solidarity and national pride, especially during major holidays or important events. This action also contributes to spreading the national image to the international community, creating a sense of solidarity in society.
However, the trend This practice has negative risks if not done properly. Firstly, it can cause urban aesthetic problems, especially when the flag is damaged by weather or not properly maintained. Secondly, if not followed properly, this action can be considered disrespectful to the National Flag. Finally, the use of environmentally unfriendly paint can be harmful to the living environment and human health.
To promote the positive aspects, there needs to be management and community awareness in protecting national symbols.
The hanging of the National Flag is clearly stipulated in the Constitution and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also issued a document guiding the hanging of the flag. However, some people believe that drawing, painting the flag, and using the image of the National Flag do not have clear regulations and specific instructions. Do you agree with this opinion, sir?
The observation that there are currently no clear regulations and specific instructions on drawing, painting flags and using images of the National Flag is completely reasonable and worth our contemplation.
While the Constitution and other legal documents have strict regulations on the display of the National Flag - a sacred symbol of the nation, new forms of expression such as drawing and painting the flag on various surfaces have not been clearly regulated. This creates a legal and cultural vacuum where acts of patriotism can unintentionally become inappropriate or disrespectful expressions.
The image of the National Flag is not only a national symbol but also an embodiment of pride, solidarity and national history. The use of this image, in any form, requires special respect and caution. Lack of clear regulations can lead to arbitrary expressions, thereby reducing the value of this symbol in the eyes of the public.
However, this gap also opens up opportunities for us to think and adjust, in order to create a legal and cultural framework suitable for the times. Specific guidelines on how to use the image of the National Flag not only help protect the sanctity of the national symbol but also create conditions for people to express their patriotism in a more appropriate and creative way.
This is not only the responsibility of State agencies but also an opportunity for each citizen to together shape and build a new culture, where patriotism is expressed with pride and solemnity.
Do you have any advice for young people participating in this flag painting trend, sir?
I think that each young person has a diverse, rich and different way of expressing patriotism. The important thing is that we all love our country. Therefore, when participating in the trend of drawing and painting flags, remember that each brush stroke you put is not just a symbol, but a story, a pride that carries within it the soul of the nation. The national flag is not simply a color and an image, but the crystallization of history, of sacrifice and of the spirit of solidarity that our ancestors have nurtured and built for generations.
Cherish that sacred thing. When you hold your brush, think about those who fought and sacrificed for your country, about the values that the National Flag represents. Let each flag you draw be a reminder of your love for your homeland, a message of faith in the future.
Your creativity is valuable, but please maintain the solemnity of the National Flag. Don't let your own joy overshadow the sacred value that the flag brings. Choose the right locations and materials, so that the flags are not only beautiful in your eyes but also durable over time, forever a source of pride.
Patriotism is not just an emotion, it is also a responsibility, a mission that each of us carries on our shoulders. Let's turn each of our small actions into a part of the national cultural flow, so that when looking back, you can be proud that you have contributed a stroke to the overall picture of the country.
Furthermore, remember that you are not just drawing a flag, but breathing life into it with your love and responsibility for the Fatherland. Let the image of the National Flag that you create become a spreading flame, inspiring everyone around, so that patriotism is not just a trend but a living value, eternal in every Vietnamese heart.
Recently, many young people have also shown their patriotism by pushing positive videos to the top of the trend. What do you think about this trend, since many people previously said that young people are not as patriotic as they used to be?
The fact that many young people today actively express their patriotism through positive videos on social networks is a very encouraging sign. Previously, there were many opinions that today's youth no longer maintain the strong patriotism of the previous generation, but this trend is proving the opposite.
Young people always have their own way to express their love for their homeland and country. If in the past, patriotism was expressed through acts of sacrifice and contribution to the struggle and protection of the Fatherland, today, in a modern and integrated society, patriotism is expressed through positive, creative actions that are close to daily life.
Promoting positive videos, spreading patriotic messages, raising community awareness or protecting cultural values to the trend is a clear example of how young people are connecting and contributing to the country.
What is important is Patriotism is not limited by the form of expression, it always exists, nurtured in every heart, just waiting for the opportunity to be revealed. The difference lies only in the way of expression suitable to the times and social context. Today's young people are showing that patriotism is not just an abstract concept but is present in every action, every product they create and share.
Using social media to convey positive messages is also a way for young people to grasp and reshape their own image in the eyes of the community. It not only breaks previous prejudices but also affirms that patriotism is a value that never fades, only changes in the way it is expressed.
This trend not only shows that the patriotism of young people is still boiling, but also proves their ability to adapt, be creative and inspire. Each positive video that is pushed up is not only a patriotic message but also an affirmation that: Vietnamese youth are always proud and ready to contribute to the country in their own way.
Thanks a lot grandfather !
