This event commemorates the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Can Tho City as a centrally-governed city (January 1, 2004 – January 1, 2024), coinciding with the New Year celebration and "Celebrating the glorious Party - Celebrating the Year of the Dragon 2024".
This year's Spring Newspaper Fair features over 200 types of publications for the Year of the Dragon (Giáp Thìn) in various fields: politics and society; economics and science and technology; culture and arts; children's publications; provincial/city newspapers; and publications from districts, counties, and agencies of Can Tho City. The number of publications on display for the public will increase as the Organizing Committee continues to add more Spring publications released after the opening of this Spring Newspaper Fair.

Along with the Spring Press Festival, the Can Tho City Spring Publication Contest 2024 (Year of the Dragon) continues to be launched, aiming to improve the effectiveness and promote non-professional press information channels in the locality; creating consensus and determination among the political system and the people in carrying out the task of building and developing Can Tho City in the new era.
The Spring publications submitted by districts/counties and departments, agencies, and organizations under the city's jurisdiction summarized and evaluated the activities of localities and units over a year of determined efforts and emulation to successfully achieve the goals and tasks in 2023.
The Can Tho Spring Newspaper Exhibition will be open to readers from now until March 4, 2024, and will be open throughout the Tet holiday. Simultaneously, district/county libraries and 83 commune/ward/town libraries throughout the area will also organize exhibitions of Spring newspapers combined with cultural, artistic, and sports activities, contributing to a joyful atmosphere and serving the cultural and spiritual life of the people before, during, and after the Lunar New Year.
