Hanoi has the largest number of exam candidates in the country (accounting for approximately 1/10 of the total number of candidates nationwide). A judge participating in grading exams in Hanoi shared that, after many years of doing this work, they always believe that grading essay exams requires "separating the wheat from the chaff," carefully reading each student's work, trying to include what is most beneficial to the students, and avoiding anything that would cost them points. According to this teacher, when the Ministry announced the answer key and scoring rubric for the Literature subject, teachers felt the answer key was relatively open-ended. This was both advantageous and challenging for the grading process. Therefore, jointly grading at least 10 exam papers before the official grading to ensure consistency is very important.
"Based on the grading process, for question number 4, which asks: 'From the author's reflection in the line "Everyone goes through the storms of their life," many candidates' answers demonstrate profound reasoning, rigorous argumentation, and persuasiveness. However, some candidates honestly associate the subjects they consider burdensome and impractical in the general education curriculum with 'the storms of their lives.' Open-ended questions and answers require open-ended grading, not rigid formulas. When grading, I put myself in the position of a candidate and imagine how upset I would be if my exam wasn't evaluated fairly and accurately," this examiner said.

Meanwhile, some localities with fewer exam papers have completed grading the essay portion.
For example, the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training announced that it had completed grading 21,703 essay-based Vietnamese language exam papers (the only essay-based exam in this exam) on the afternoon of July 6th, with the participation of 96 examiners. Over 101,000 multiple-choice exam papers are also being graded by machine and are expected to be largely completed by July 10th, with the next steps and procedures as stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training being followed.

According to Nguyen Van Manh, Director of the Phu Tho Department of Education and Training, the locality is paying special attention to open-ended questions and creative, application-based answers from students when grading essays; and is also ensuring proper preservation of exam papers and grading records according to regulations. According to the plan, the grading process in the province will be completed by July 10th.
