SKĐS - This afternoon, convective clouds from the southwest are moving and expanding towards Hanoi. Forecasts indicate that in the coming hours, developing convective clouds will cause thunderstorms in the inner city of Hanoi.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, current satellite imagery, weather radar images, and lightning location data show that convective clouds from the southwest are moving and expanding towards Hanoi city.

Warning: In the next 30 minutes to 3 hours, this convective cloud system will cause showers and thunderstorms in the following wards/communes: Xuan Mai, Tran Phu, Quang Bi, and Chuong My, and may then spread to other areas within Hanoi. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.

Warning of thunderstorms in downtown Hanoi in the coming hours.

Flash flood and landslide warnings issued for Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, and Lang Son provinces. Over the past 24 hours (from 3 PM on May 21st to 3 PM on May 22nd), moderate to heavy rainfall, and in some places very heavy rainfall, has occurred in Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, and Lang Son provinces, such as: Trung Thanh 348.8mm, Bach Ngoc 2 314.2mm (Tuyen Quang); Na Phac 156.6mm, Hiep Luc 156mm (Thai Nguyen); Bac Son 108mm (Lang Son); ... Soil moisture models indicate that some areas in these provinces are near saturation (over 85%) or have reached saturation.

Over the next 3-6 hours, the aforementioned provinces will continue to experience rain with the following accumulated rainfall amounts: Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen from 5-10mm, with some areas exceeding 30mm; Lang Son from 20-40mm, with some areas exceeding 90mm. Over the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes in many communes/wards.

Warning of natural disaster risk level due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence caused by rain or runoff: Level 1. Flash floods and landslides can have very serious impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause localized traffic congestion, affecting the movement of vehicles; destroy public and economic infrastructure, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

We recommend that local authorities take note of and review bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to implement preventive and response measures.
