A 'magical' red sunrise scene at Ngu Chi Son Mountain: Thao Linh, a 29-year-old female trekker from Yen Bai , accidentally witnessed the rare red sunrise on Ngu Chi Son Mountain early in the morning of April 18th. She said the scene only lasted a few minutes, but it was enough to leave onlookers speechless with awe.

“The scene was so magical, almost surreal. I was completely stunned, as if I were watching a movie scene,” Thao Linh shared with Tri Thuc - Znews , recalling the special moment on the morning of April 18th, during her journey to conquer Ngu Chi Son - the most magnificent viewpoint in Northwest Vietnam - in Sa Pa, Lao Cai .

It was 6 a.m., and after the heavy rain at dawn, the weather cleared up. From the rest stop at over 2,400 meters high, Linh stepped out and was surprised to see the sun slowly rising from behind the distant mountain ranges.

A deep crimson light pierced through the thick fog, illuminating the sky, the sea of clouds, and the mountain slopes. "The fog enveloped the mountain peaks, blending with the fiery red sky, creating a majestic and surreal scene," Thao Linh shared.

She said that April isn't cloud-hunting season, so she didn't have high expectations initially. However, that fleeting moment turned out to be an unexpected reward, making Linh feel complete and happy, even though it only lasted for a few minutes before quickly fading away.

According to her, even experienced mountain porters who have been hiking for many years rarely encounter anything like this.

This trip took place over two days (April 17-18). This was also Thao Linh's first attempt to conquer Ngu Chi Son mountain.

On April 17th, she, along with two friends and three porters (local guides), set off from Sa Pa town by motorbike to the foot of the mountain, beginning their trekking at 10 am. After more than 6 hours of traversing the forest and climbing slopes, the group arrived at the rest stop at 4 pm that same day.

The following morning, it was raining and windy, but the rain stopped by 5 am. After breakfast, Linh went out to the rest stop and witnessed a spectacular sunrise. At 7 am, the group continued their journey to conquer the mountain peak and finished at 8:30 am.

The distance wasn't long, but the climb from the hut to the summit was considered quite challenging due to the steep terrain, strong winds, and dense fog.

Located in Ta Giang Phinh commune (Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province), Ngu Chi Son, at 2,858 meters high, is one of the highest and most beautiful mountain peaks in Northwest Vietnam.

The name "Ngu Chi" (Five Fingers) comes from the shape of the five adjacent mountain peaks, towering like five fingers reaching straight up to the sky. The route to conquer Ngu Chi Son is about 12-15 km long, passing through primeval forests, sheer cliffs, and mountain slopes shrouded in mist year-round.

The highest peak was only opened up by locals in 2017, who installed wooden stairs and safety ropes to assist climbers.

Despite being close to the center of Sa Pa and not too far, this climbing route is still considered one of the most difficult, requiring high physical fitness and willpower. However, the reward for conquering it is well worth it: breathtaking panoramic views in all directions, clearly showing Fansipan, Niu Co San, Bach Moc Luong Tu, and Lao Than...
