'Magical' red sunrise scene at Ngu Chi Son mountain Thao Linh, a 29-year-old female trekker from Yen Bai , accidentally caught a rare moment of red sunrise on Ngu Chi Son mountain early in the morning of April 18. She said the scene only lasted a few minutes, but was enough to make the witness "freeze" in amazement.

“The scene at that time was so magical that it was surreal. I was frozen, as if I was watching a movie scene,” Thao Linh shared with Tri Thuc - Znews when recalling the special moment on the morning of April 18, on the journey to conquer Ngu Chi Son - the most majestic pass in the Northwest - in Sa Pa, Lao Cai .

It was 6am, after the heavy rain in the early morning, the weather had cleared up. Linh stepped out of the shelter at an altitude of over 2,400m and was surprised to see the sun slowly rising behind the distant mountains.

The crimson light penetrated the thick fog, dyeing the sky, the sea of clouds and the mountainside ablaze. "The fog surrounded the mountain peaks, blending with the crimson sky, creating a majestic and surreal scene," Thao Linh shared.

She said that April is not the season for cloud hunting, so she did not have high expectations at first. However, that brief moment became an unexpected reward, making Linh feel fulfilled and happy, even though it only lasted for a few minutes and then quickly disappeared.

According to her, even experienced porters who have been climbing mountains for many years rarely encounter similar scenes.

This trip took place over two days (April 17-18). This was also Thao Linh's first journey to conquer Ngu Chi Son.

On April 17, she and two friends and three porters (local guides) departed from Sa Pa town by motorbike to the foot of the mountain, starting trekking at 10am. After more than 6 hours of trekking through the forest and uphill, the group arrived at the shelter at 4pm the same day.

The next morning, it was raining and windy, but by 5am it had stopped. After breakfast, Linh walked out to the shelter and caught a glimpse of the special sunrise. At 7am, the group continued their journey to conquer the mountain peak and finished at 8:30am.

The distance is not long, but the climb from the hut to the top is considered quite arduous due to the steep terrain, windy weather and dense fog.

Located in Ta Giang Phinh commune (Sa Pa town, Lao Cai), Ngu Chi Son is 2,858 m high and is one of the highest and most beautiful mountain peaks in the Northwest.

The name “Ngu Chi” comes from the shape of 5 adjacent mountain peaks, towering like five fingers reaching straight up to the sky. The route to conquer Ngu Chi Son is about 12-15 km long, passing through primeval forests, steep cliffs and misty mountain slopes all year round.

The highest peak was only opened to the locals in 2017, with wooden stairs and safety ropes installed to assist climbers.

Although close to the center of Sa Pa and the distance is not too long, this climbing route is still considered one of the difficult routes, requiring high physical strength and will. However, the reward for the conqueror is worthy, which is the clear view in all four directions, you can clearly see Fansipan, Nhiu Co San, Bach Moc Luong Tu and Lao Than...
