Warmth and sharing

Following the Women's Union officials of Dong Phu commune, we visited the family of Ms. Vi Thi Dung (Va village). Ms. Dung is a near-poor household, her husband passed away early, leaving her to raise her child alone. In early November 2025, an electrical short circuit destroyed all of her family's belongings and household items, making life even more difficult for her and her child. The Women's Union of Dong Phu commune visited Ms. Dung's family to offer support and shared in their loss, presenting them with 7.5 million VND in assistance. Receiving this thoughtful gift, Ms. Dung emotionally stated: "This is a great source of encouragement, helping my family alleviate immediate difficulties and giving us more faith to rebuild our home after this tragedy."

Women from Da Mai ward donate gifts to students of Vinh Quy commune's kindergarten and primary school in Cao Bang province.

In her spacious new home, Mrs. To Thi Nu (born in 1951) in Nguon B village, Tan Yen commune, couldn't hide her happiness and emotion. She confided: "I've worked hard all my life, and my old house was dilapidated, but I didn't have the means to repair it. So when the Women's Union of the commune and benefactors supported the construction of a new home, I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my heart." Mrs. Nu's life has been filled with sorrow. Her husband passed away early, and then her two sons also died from illness and work accidents. The small house where she and her remaining son lived was in serious disrepair. Therefore, the completed house before the New Year brings with it the warmth and care of the community, giving Mrs. Nu and her children renewed hope. Mrs. Nu said that this year, she will request to be removed from the local poverty list and continue to strive for a better life.

Regularly every Wednesday and on the 2nd and 16th of each lunar month, the Women's Association of Phu Ninh village, in coordination with Phu Ninh Pagoda (Gia Binh commune), maintains the "Compassionate Meal Kitchen" model, bringing warm meals to patients receiving treatment at the Gia Binh Medical Center. Women's association members, along with Buddhist followers and philanthropists, gather at the pagoda from early morning to prepare ingredients, cook, and distribute nutritious and hygienically prepared meals and porridge.

On average, each day, the charitable kitchen provides 30-50 free meals and 250-300 free bowls of porridge to poor patients and their caregivers at Gia Binh Medical Center. Funding is raised through voluntary donations from members, Buddhists, and benefactors both within and outside the local area. Ms. Vu Thi Tham, a member of the Women's Association in Phu Ninh village, shared: “Each meal delivered to the patients is a joy and a motivation for us to continue striving. We only hope that these small meals will help alleviate some of their difficulties during their time in the hospital.”

Spreading the spirit of mutual support and compassion.

Actively participating in social welfare work, women's associations at all levels in the province have promoted propaganda and fostered compassion among members; organized activities to visit, assist, and give gifts to poor households, association officials in difficult circumstances, policy beneficiary families, victims of Agent Orange, poor students who overcome difficulties to excel in their studies, orphaned children, and new recruits going to perform military service... Humanitarian and charitable activities with diverse models are carried out regularly, creating a ripple effect in the community.

From 2021 to the present, women's associations at all levels have mobilized support and assistance to build 330 "Houses of Love" for poor women and those in difficult circumstances, worth over 12 billion VND, and provided over 27,000 man-days of labor for repairs and the purchase and donation of essential household items; visited and presented gifts to poor women and children in particularly difficult circumstances, worth over 33 billion VND. They have effectively maintained 664 "Women's Savings Groups Participating in Health Insurance," donating 3,188 health insurance cards with a total value of over 2.6 billion VND; and visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to new recruits and families of policy beneficiaries with an expenditure of over 22 billion VND. Mobilizing female cadres, members, and businesses to sponsor over 2,000 orphaned children in difficult circumstances through various forms… donating billions of VND in cash and essential goods and supplies to support people in areas affected by typhoons No. 10 and 11 in 2025 in Bac Ninh province and helping people overcome the damage after the historic floods in the Central and Central Highlands provinces.

Along with visiting and giving gifts and implementing social welfare work, every year, women's associations at all levels focus on reviewing and accurately identifying the number and causes of poverty in households, especially single mothers, disabled women, and poor households headed by women, in order to provide timely assistance. Accordingly, women's associations from the provincial to the grassroots level have effectively implemented movements such as: "Women helping each other develop family economies," "Women excelling in economic activities," etc., with diverse forms: providing labor assistance, accessing capital sources with preferential interest rates, supporting seedlings and livestock, opening vocational training classes, and introducing jobs for members...

According to Ms. Vu Thi An, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union: “With many social welfare activities, for the practical and meaningful life of the community, women's unions at all levels have promptly taken care of the material and spiritual lives of female members... creating a strong ripple effect, enhancing the role of the organization, attracting and gathering members to participate in activities. To continue implementing social welfare activities effectively, the Provincial Women's Union is promoting propaganda and mobilization of members and the people to participate in programs, campaigns, and charitable and humanitarian movements launched by all levels, sectors, and the Central Vietnam Women's Union. We advise and assist Party committees and authorities in effectively implementing social welfare policies; strengthen coordination with philanthropists, benefactors, agencies, and units to create more resources for humanitarian support to better care for the lives of female members.”

In particular, during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ), the Women's Union, in coordination with other organizations, focused on reviewing and assisting policy beneficiary households, women's households facing difficulties, illness, or disability, ensuring that "no household is left without a New Year celebration"; and paying attention to encouraging and giving gifts to new recruits joining the army. At the same time, they organized meaningful activities to celebrate the Party and the Spring Festival; and propagated and mobilized women's union members' families and the people to abide by the law, especially laws on traffic safety and the prevention and control of firecrackers.
