On the afternoon of June 30th, the special aircraft carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with the Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Seongnam military airport in Seoul, beginning an official visit to South Korea at the invitation of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and his wife.
According to VNA, immediately after arriving in Seoul, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Korean friends who have made significant contributions to Vietnam-Korea relations.
Also attending the meeting were members of the Vietnamese delegation, leaders of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, representatives of organizations such as the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Association, the Association of Koreans Who Love Vietnam, the Korean Business Association in Vietnam, and football coach Park Hang-seo…
Expressing their delight at welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to South Korea, the Korean friends affirmed that every Korean citizen has positive feelings towards Vietnam and its people; they stated that they will continue to support Vietnam, assist Vietnam in its development process, and act as a bridge to further strengthen Vietnam-Korea relations…
In a warm, sincere, and touching atmosphere, moved by the affection of our Korean friends for the Vietnamese people and country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the gratitude and best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to our Korean friends.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the contributions of Vietnamese and Korean people's organizations and non-governmental organizations, who have persistently and continuously strived to organize many highly effective activities, promoting exchanges and cooperation between the people and businesses of the two countries, contributing to strengthening the relationship and creating a solid social foundation for the robust development of bilateral relations over the past time; affirming that the Vietnamese Party and State attach great importance to relations with Korea.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on Korean investors, businesses, and citizens to continue showing affection for Vietnam and to translate that affection into concrete cooperation projects and programs. The Prime Minister also expressed his hope that Korean people and investors would continue to invest, do business, and live in Vietnam, assuring them that they would be treated fairly and equally, and that their legitimate rights and interests would be protected.
Later that evening, in Seoul, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representative offices, as well as representatives of the Vietnamese community in South Korea.
According to the Prime Minister, the Party and State recognize that Vietnamese people abroad are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese national community. The Prime Minister acknowledged that the Vietnamese community in South Korea has made significant and high-quality contributions to the homeland and to bilateral relations, through their stability and development in their host country, their aspiration to prosper, and their affirmation that Vietnamese people, wherever they are, are not inferior to any other community.
With the motto "The Embassy is the home of those living abroad," the Prime Minister requested that the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea always pay attention to and care for the Vietnamese community in South Korea, in the spirit of "treating our compatriots as family; treating their affairs as our own family affairs"; and establish appropriate communication channels to connect the community and handle related issues for the community.
Stating that the success of Vietnamese people abroad, including those in South Korea, is also the success of the country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the issues of concern and proposals raised by the community are being actively considered by ministries, government agencies, and the National Assembly in coordination with relevant agencies.
