Overseas Vietnamese promote proactive role, contribute opinions to draft Party documents

With 6.5 million Vietnamese living in more than 130 countries and territories, overseas Vietnamese are considered “an inseparable part of the nation,” consolidating the great national unity bloc, and are an important factor contributing to strengthening cooperative and friendly relations between our country and other countries.”

Overseas Vietnamese, especially intellectuals, experts and businessmen, are actively contributing their opinions to the draft documents of the 14th National Congress, with the desire to contribute to the cause of national construction and development, deep and sustainable integration.

On this occasion, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien shared with VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper about outstanding results in overseas Vietnamese work.

Promoting overseas Vietnamese intelligence in nation building

- The Draft Political Report of the 14th National Congress acknowledged that the work for overseas Vietnamese has been implemented more actively and substantially. Could you share more about this?

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien: During the last term, the work of overseas Vietnamese has achieved many outstanding results, demonstrating new developments in thinking, working methods and practical effectiveness.

The Party and the State pay special attention to activities to care for the material and spiritual life of the Vietnamese community abroad, especially in preserving and spreading the cultural identity and Vietnamese language, supporting integration in the host country and strengthening community solidarity. These efforts have contributed to creating a solid foundation for people to feel secure in stabilizing their lives, being more attached to their homeland and thereby strongly promoting the potential, intelligence and sentiment of overseas Vietnamese in the cause of building and developing the country.

In that spirit, agencies in the political system have constantly innovated content and methods and improved work efficiency.

Citizen protection and legal support work has been proactively and promptly implemented, clearly demonstrating the spirit of taking people as the center of service. The work of preserving Vietnamese language and national culture has had many positive changes with Vietnamese language classes, the "Vietnamese Bookshelf" program, and community cultural activities spreading to many countries and regions.

The work of connecting, attracting and promoting overseas intellectual resources, experts and businessmen has been expanded, focusing on priority areas such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, education and healthcare.

In addition, the coordination between ministries, branches, localities and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese is increasingly close and effective, contributing to spreading the spirit of taking overseas Vietnamese as the center of policy.

Many models and initiatives initiated by overseas Vietnamese have been connected and supported for implementation in the country; more and more Vietnamese experts and intellectuals abroad are participating in policy making, consulting on development strategies, accompanying innovation, start-up activities and training high-quality human resources.

In the coming period, when the 14th National Congress Document continues to emphasize the task of promoting the strength of great national unity, including the overseas Vietnamese community, work for overseas Vietnamese will be deployed more extensively and substantially, contributing positively to the goal of building the country and the overseas Vietnamese community to develop rapidly and sustainably in the new era, enhancing the position and image of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people in the international arena.

Aspiration to accompany the nation

- Could you please tell us about the comments of overseas Vietnamese on the draft Political Report of the 14th National Party Congress?

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien: The campaign to collect opinions from overseas Vietnamese on the draft Political Report to be presented to the 14th National Party Congress has been widely implemented, and to date has received more than 1,300 opinions from the overseas Vietnamese community from all continents.

All opinions expressed faith, affection, sense of responsibility and aspiration to accompany the Fatherland, considering contributing opinions to the draft Document as an opportunity to demonstrate patriotism and intelligence of the Vietnamese community around the world.

Overall, overseas Vietnamese assessed that this draft Political Report has high quality and strategic vision, clearly demonstrating the connection between three important areas: economy - society - Party building. Many opinions highly appreciated the innovation in leadership thinking when for the first time four major reports were integrated into a single Political Report and the inclusion of the Action Program for implementation right in the Report, demonstrating the spirit of "saying goes hand in hand with doing."

Regarding the theme of the Congress, overseas Vietnamese expressed their high unity and consensus, considering this a concise and clear message, demonstrating the aspiration for development and the spirit of great national unity.

Overall, overseas Vietnamese assessed that this draft Political Report has high quality and strategic vision, clearly demonstrating the connection between three important areas: economy, society, and Party building.

Regarding development policies, overseas Vietnamese highly appreciate new orientations, emphasizing the three pillars of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, considering these as the central driving force of the new development model.

Regarding foreign affairs and international integration, recommendations focus on strengthening coordination between representative agencies and associations, promoting the role of overseas Vietnamese in cultural diplomacy, science, and Vietnamese values - developing a network of "People's Messengers" to promote the image of a creative, humane, and integrated Vietnam.

Regarding the policy towards overseas Vietnamese, the majority of opinions highly agreed with the spirit of the Draft, affirming that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, a resource of the country and making specific proposals on: creating a stable legal corridor for overseas Vietnamese to confidently integrate and contribute; promoting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese, preserving the national cultural identity; administrative reform, digitalizing public services; developing exchange programs, scholarships, and internships for overseas Vietnamese youth and students; building a global network of Vietnamese intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and experts, connecting with localities in the country.

- Would you like to share a few words of hope for the 14th National Party Congress?

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien: The 14th National Party Congress is a milestone of special significance, taking place at a time when our country is entering a new phase with the aspiration to enter a new era of development, becoming a developed, high-income country by the middle of the 21st century.

With 7 important resolutions recently issued by the Central Committee, along with the upcoming Resolution of the 14th National Congress and subsequent resolutions in the future, we have enough basis to believe in a strong and synchronous policy foundation, creating momentum to help the country realize its 2045 vision: Becoming a developed, high-income country.

The overseas Vietnamese community always follows and places high expectations on the Congress, because each decision of the Party is closely linked to the future and position of the country, which is also the future and pride of nearly 6.5 million Vietnamese people living around the world.

We firmly believe that the 14th Congress will continue to affirm and promote the Party's innovative thinking, strategic vision and leadership, and propose correct and breakthrough policies, both inheriting tradition and opening up new development paths suitable to the times. The Congress is not only a place to summarize the past journey, but also a strong call to arouse the aspirations of the entire nation, including the Vietnamese community abroad.

Every decision of the Party is closely linked to the future and position of the country, and also the future and pride of nearly 6.5 million Vietnamese people living around the world.

We believe that our compatriots across the five continents will always turn to the Fatherland with deep affection, steadfast faith and determination to accompany the Party and State in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

We expect that the 14th Congress will continue to put Vietnamese people, whether at home or abroad, at the center of all development policies; continue to arouse creativity, solidarity, and the will to rise up so that the country can develop rapidly, sustainably, integrate deeply, and strongly spread Vietnamese values in the new era.
