
Having worked for many years at JFE Shoji Steel Co., Ltd. in Hai Phong (VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park), Mr. Dang Van Hiep is not only known for his technical innovations that bring great value to the company, but also as a passionate and dedicated Trade Union Chairman. In him, the spirit of creative work and responsibility for the collective always go hand in hand.
In 2024, the initiative "Developing a wireless connection method between HT handheld workstations and PCs via Wi-Fi, based on the Remote Control feature (Windows) and Keyence's Remote Controller software," proposed by Mr. Dang Van Hiep, was awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor . Mr. Hiep explained that previously, connecting HT workstations and PCs required a physical dock, only compatible with Windows 7, an older operating system with significant security risks. This frequently interrupted data retrieval and software installation, wasting time and impacting production schedules.
Based on that reality, Mr. Hiep researched and developed a solution for connecting via internal Wi-Fi, utilizing Windows Remote Desktop in combination with Keyence software. This solution saves an average of 2.5 hours of production time per month across 7 production lines, without interruption, and ensures stable data transmission and reception. After one year of implementation, the solution has saved the company 1.2 billion VND.
Sharing his motivation for innovation, Mr. Hiep said that stemming from common errors encountered when connecting data, he was always concerned about how to completely resolve them, making work smoother and contributing practically to the business. Along with this initiative, every year Mr. Hiep contributes ideas to solve work-related problems, helping to improve labor efficiency and the working environment at the company.
Besides his role as Head of Planning Department, since 2013, Mr. Hiep has been involved in trade union work and is currently the Chairman of the Trade Union of JFE Shoji Hai Phong Steel Co., Ltd. He shared: "Balancing my professional work with trade union activities has presented me with certain challenges. However, I always strive to organize my work scientifically , clearly divide responsibilities, and especially promote the collective role of the company's Trade Union Executive Committee. Thanks to this, trade union activities are resolved promptly and effectively."
Mr. Hiep, along with the company's Trade Union Executive Committee, implemented many practical activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of employees, such as giving Tet gifts to union members at a rate of 1 million VND per person; proposing to the company leadership to support union members in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi with a rate of 3 million VND per person. The company's Trade Union also organized a dialogue conference with employees and successfully negotiated several new benefits for employees, such as: increasing the meal allowance from 30,000 VND to 36,000 VND per meal; increasing the monthly special meal allowance from 50,000 VND to 70,000 VND per meal; increasing the bonus for employees with 5 years of service from 5 million VND to 7 million VND per person… The company's Trade Union also coordinated many charitable activities to donate gifts to victims of Agent Orange and disadvantaged children, contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion.

Mr. Tran Van Truong, an employee of the Technical Department, said that Mr. Hiep was always approachable and listened to the workers. He accepted all legitimate suggestions regarding improving working conditions or welfare benefits and proposed them to the company's leadership to protect the rights of union members and workers.
Under Mr. Hiep's leadership, the movement for creative labor among union members and employees at the company has spread widely. In 2024 alone, the company received 80 improvement ideas related to safety, quality, productivity, and welfare, with 3 outstanding initiatives receiving the Creative Labor Award. According to Mr. Hiep, each idea is sparked by practical experience and the collective contribution of the team. The company's labor union always encourages, motivates, and proposes many policies to encourage each member to explore and innovate, whether large or small, as long as it benefits both the employees and the company.
Thanks to these contributions, Mr. Hiep has been consistently recognized by the company for his outstanding performance in his professional duties and has been classified as an excellent union member. The Company's Trade Union received a certificate of commendation from the higher-level Trade Union for its achievements in trade union work in 2024.
