On April 11th, Son failed to score in Tottenham's 1-1 draw against Frankfurt in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals. This was the fifth consecutive match in which Son failed to score for Spurs.
The BBC quoted numerous comments from fans suggesting that Son is showing signs of age and no longer has the stamina to play continuously this season. A user named Sean commented: "I think Son's problem is that he's 32 years old and his physical condition is declining. It's time Tottenham fans accepted the fact that he can't play at the intensity of 3-4 days a week."
A fan named Richard wrote: "I think it's time to take the captain's armband off Son and give it to Cristian Romero. Let Son relieve some of the pressure."
A fan named Len commented: "He's not the person we used to know. For the sake of the team's results, Son should probably be benched."

A fan named Charlie said: "I think Son's speed isn't as good as it used to be, and that's affecting his games. I think Tottenham need to find a player who can help Son make a better impact without relying on his speed."
This isn't the first time Son has been questioned about his captaincy at Tottenham. After Spurs were eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup, former player Jamie Redknapp argued that Son was responsible and that the coaching staff should reconsider the striker's captaincy.
Son has scored 7 goals in the Premier League and 3 goals in the Europa League this season. On February 22nd, the South Korean striker was involved in 20 goals (10 goals + 10 assists) across all competitions, for the ninth consecutive season.
