The mysterious "black dot" on the iPhone Pro is not a microphone.
Many people mistake the "black dot" on the iPhone Pro for a microphone hole, but it's actually a LiDAR sensor that works silently and is extremely useful.

On the back of the iPhone Pro and Pro Max, in addition to the familiar lenses, there is a "black dot" that has piqued the curiosity of many. This isn't a microphone hole, but rather a LiDAR sensor, Apple's near-infrared laser distance measurement technology.
LiDAR first appeared on the iPhone 12 Pro in 2020 and has continued to be featured on all subsequent iPhone Pro models. This sensor helps the iPhone map the depth of its environment, supporting better low-light photography and faster, more accurate focusing.
In augmented reality (AR) applications, LiDAR enables near-instantaneous plane and spatial recognition. The unique feature is that users don't need to turn it on or do anything; LiDAR will automatically activate when the software needs to measure distance. The sensor's black casing absorbs visible light but allows infrared radiation to pass through, enabling it to measure "time-of-flight".
Although not a mandatory feature, the LiDAR "black dot" is still a major advantage that sets the iPhone Pro apart in photography and AR. Readers are invited to watch the following video : Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
